Had two, both Kimbers. This is why gun models in 38 Super are so popular.
I always wanted a 45 colt so I bought my Model 25-5 earlier in the year.I’m not sure I understand the question. For every gun I’ve purchased, the caliber was part of the decision.
I wanted a classic 9 mm auto so I also got a Beretta.
I wanted a .22LR revolver for cheap plinking so I got a Colt and Ruger (still need to add a S&W to that line up).
On the flip side, I wanted a Colt Python which happens to be .357 mag. So now subsequent revolvers are in the .38 spl/.357 mag family.
I haven’t pursued getting other calibers for the sake of having a different caliber.
You just wanted to make your dayYep bought my Model 29 because I wanted a .44 Magnum![]()
Yes, it sounds stupid, but call me stupid!
Well 60 years ago you wanted a 45 ACP your choices were Colt Commercial (or military) and USGI.… did anyone else ever buy a gun just for the caliber?
A good gun, but a glock maybe lighter and tells when using a bandoleer holster all day for me on the shoulder.Yes. Back a few decades I was looking for a full sized .40 and found a police trade-in 4006. Found with the all steel stainless pistol I could dance a 32 oz gator-ade bottle across the yard with a full magazine.
Yeah I'd go a step further and say that the primary thing was always the caliber and then what its use was and then other things like my latest purchase was " i want a 44 magnum , that I can carry, and steel" 69 combat magnum 2.75 inch on the wayI’m not sure I understand the question. For every gun I’ve purchased, the caliber was part of the decision.

Bought a first year M53 to replace a 4" 53 that I foolishly traded away.Well, yes.
Bought not one but two 53s.
