OHAUS scales
What ever happened to the old Ohaus Dial-O-Matic scales?
You could weight up to 90 grains by using the dial.

I have had an Ohaus 10-10 scale since about 1973. I believe that RCBS bought them out, or at least they now make the 10-10 scale. I think that they used to make the one you are looking for so you might give Huntingtons a call.

Here's what I found on the Ohaus forum.

Bill,
Anything the affects the “balance” of the beam will affect the zero. I think you have an older balance, but if you have a zero compensator it is probably not as old as I thought. If possible send me a picture at my email address [email protected] it would help a lot. Nobody left here can remember a balance called a Dial-O-Matic. The only name I can find is Dial-O-Gram.

These scales are still available, but would be harder to use, since they're calibrated in grams.

Favorites in classrooms and industries worldwide these balances offer convenience and durability for all your weighing needs.

BTW, .01g = .1543 gr which isn't quite up to what we normally use (+/- .1 gr) in reloading

Dial-O-Matic
I had one during the 70's and, now have a 3110 now.
There are none on E-bay or Google.

I have an old one it still works great. A buddy of mine who is in the firearms industry told me they were very popular with the drug dealers maybe that's why they now read grams?

I don't imagine drug dealers are that concerned about reading anything less than 10 mg, so the old triple beam, like you used in high school, would do the job. I bought new triple beam just so I could weight up to a couple of pounds (it has to have auxiliary weights to do it) with reasonable accuracy.
I would say the Ohaus 505 was cheaper and more accurate, so the less accurate and more expensive Dial scale fell in disuse.

This one belonged to my dad. I put it in a box in 2005 when he died. I will probably never use it. still in excellant condition. I recall using it in the 80 and 90s. I bought a used 10-10 in the 90s and since I use a dillion and mainly target loads, dont really have the need for this one.

If its still functional it would bring a pretty good price on Ebay!
Somewhere north of $200 to the right buyer.
Neat scale - too bad it was dropped but probably for cost and not that well bought by consumers given the cost back then of their 10-10 scale.

I just checked Ebay for completed listings but nothing was there on the scale. When I saw the last one it was about $247 and not finished as yet.
Don't know how it ended BUT you always need the right mix of bidders.
Good luck if you try to sell.
