Be aware of that R1 is an extremly fast burning powder. And it has not been produced for the last 20years or so.
It is very nice for mild .38spec loads.
200 is a rifle powder, will do great in .223rem and .308win

I don't know if it is of interest, but anyhow I will tell you the story behind the R powders from Norma. All of them produced by Bofors.
R stands for Revolver powder.
In the beginning there was R1, R2 and R3.
R1 was intended for .38spec R2 for .357mag and R3 for .44mag.
After a while Norma removed R2 and R3 and made the R23 witch was to subistitute R2 and R3. Finaly they decided to remove R1 and combine all three of them to R123 witch is the powder that was produced last. In these days, there is no more handgun powder from Norma at all.

From an explanation/teaching standpoint, the last Norma reloading manual was the best ever produced, IMHO. It even has color photos that demonstrate each step of the manufacturing process for bullets, powder, etc. It also has the most comprehensive burn rate chart I have ever seen (includes lots of powders no longer sold in the U.S.).
