Default Another lead wheel weight question

I've been doing this for years, but it seems lately I've been asking more questions than doing it....LOL.

My state recently banned lead wheel weights and they are quite scarce now. But I was able to secure a large quantity out of state. The problem is that apparently where they came from had a ban as well, and what i got was a mixture of lead and who only knows what.

I can tell the steel pieces and I know the designation for zinc, but I have a whole bucket full with designations I never saw before. Can someone help? I believe some are makers marks, but what about the rest?

Gee, I never would have guessed they made wheel weights out of light aluminum!

FE is iron, not sure about all the others, most are lead. The best way is to take a pair of pliers or cutters and see which one you can cut into. The lead ones, well, obviously. The FE or iron ones won't cut at all. There is also the drop test. You will get a distinctive sound with the zinc and FE ones. The aluminum ones won't melt at around 650 so they will float on top when the lead is melted. I'll have to look around for the website that sells them because they list them by those letters.

Being that I am a Master Technician & work in a Tire Store I can help you with what the codes mean,Has nothing to do with the material that the weight is made of but is for the contour of the weight to fit specific wheels for example MC weights are widely used on Ford Products & Some Other Cars/Trucks,AL are mostly GM products,All of our new weights are lead free & I think it is a nationwide thing we still have a few lead weights that are old stock but for the last several months all new weights are Steel,We have tt sell our old weights to a cretian place (Corporate B.S.) I don't cast so I never bothered with them,German cars have come with lead free weights when new for quite a few years.
