Where is the nothing choice? Can't shot or reload every day.
Last reloading was .45ACP.
Why the question?

I loaded last night 100 rounds of 223 55gr Hornady Z-max over 26.8 grains of CFE223, #41 CCI primer LC cases and 50 rounds of 223 55gr Hornaday V-Max same loading data. Gonna start loading some 45Colt for my lever action and some 45acp for my pistol. Want to load some 68 grain Match BTHP today if I can find some data.

New 45 Colt mould! 454640!
I ran a group buy over on castboolits forum. The mould is a 454640.
It is a 255gr HP boolit with the large HP pins in.
RESULTS---------------------RESULTS-------------------RESULTS!
Okay, I had mixed cases but tried to shoot them in groups over the chronograph.
Things went pretty well to be honest AND I now have THE boolit for the 45Colt, bar NONE!
(Yeah, I'm a bit opinionated!)
These were cast a bit soft and gave me just a tad of leading but not enough to cause accuracy problems.
The firearm was my Ruger Blackhawk 45 Convertible with the 5 1/2" barrel. This thing is a tank!
Two loads: 9.2gr Surplus Unique and 19gr of 1980's Hercules 2400, both used standard Wolf Large Pistol Primers.
These loads should not be shot in anything other than a Ruger or T/C.
The Surplus Unique load turned in some impressive numbers:
Low 1036fps
High 1075fps
Avg. 1047fps
ES 35fps
SD 12.8fps!
The 2400 load:
Low 1178fps
High 1252fps
Avg. 1220fps
ES 73fps
SD 24fps
Both loads had minimal smoke but the residue was pretty significant on the firearm. It wiped down and was gone quick, even after over 100 rounds.
I could hit golf ball sized rocks @ 25 yards pretty handily, which impressed me pretty well.
Then, I put this target up and gave it a go. 20 yards or so, fired with forearms supported, two handed and of course, single action!
At any rate, here is the picture of it.
All in all, this one is a keeper! Happy camper!

Since we never really had a winter this year, I've been several months behind on my reloading, and finally decided to get it all caught up. So for most of the past month I've been religiously cranking away in my free time. I'm getting close to having all the brass full again, only a few thousand more to go. Today I loaded a thousand 40's, using Meister 155-grain cast bullets I bought at least ten years ago. I didn't realized how old they were (and how many times I've moved them from house to house) until I looked at the boxes...........the price for 500 bullets was $17.98. On the Meister website, the same box of bullets now lists for a shade over $50!

I would disagree. Leading is seldom due to soft bullets, until you get into the 1500+ fps range. Back a few decades, what is considered soft was a hard alloy and Keith used 9-12BHN for his .44 Mag work and didn't have leading. What he did have were bullets oversized enough and a good lube.
12BHN is still as hard as I need for anything up to rifles at high speed where I need a gas check.
When you get leading, note the location.
If it appears near the chamber, chances are that bullet diameter or hardness are the cause. A diameter too small or an alloy too hard will allow high pressure gas to leak past the bullet, which erodes the bullet and leaves leading near the chamber.
If the leading first appears on the leading edge of the rifling (if you imagine the bullet being pushed through the barrel, you will note that one edge of the rifling does most of the work of imparting a spin to the bullet. This is the edge you see when you look through the barrel from the breech end), the bullet might be too soft or the velocity too high.
If the leading appears in the second (front) half of the barrel, the bullet is running out of lube. If shooting a soft stick lube, you should see a star shaped pattern of lube accumulate on the muzzle. This indicates that there is a little excess lube. A very light tumble lube of LLA will supply all the lubrication needed for most handgun cartridges with velocity less than 1500fps.

Did some more 45 ACP reloading. I normally shoot lead reloads but got a deal on some 185 Jacketed SWC bullets. Loaded 20 each of 5; 5.5 and 6 grains of Unique. Will see how the Sig and the Glock like them next week. Blackpowder shooting this weekend.

About twice a month, been loading 100 rounds at a time of .45 ACP, 230 FMJ with 6 grains of Unique. Stocking up, I have access to full auto Thompson M1A1's in our armory, they need exercise and also have a hearty appetite!
Also load .38, .357, 10mm, .41 mag, .44 spcl/mag, .45 AR and .30-30, just not all in the same day.

Good deal Greg!
What was the load and distances? How long have you been reloading? Not long, right?

No sir, I've reloaded since I was a child. I haven't had the rifle long.
The load for the tight group was a max load of IMR 4895, CCI 200 primer, and 85 grain Ballistic Tip bullets.
Distance is 100 yards from sandbags on a bench.

Didn't actually reload anything recently, I've been saving to buy some components. Finally got the last order in, primers and 8lbs of powder, received my order from Bayou Bullets last week, two weeks ago got another order from Precision Delta and a week before that got a couple hundred 147gr XTPs from Hornady. Now I have to decide where to start!

Didn't get much time to reload this weekend, but did put together a few rounds of 45acp. Used up the last of my Berry's plated 230gr RN, and started loading up some 230gr RN cast by my father-in-law. Loaded with 6.0gr of Unique, OAL :1.265" , Crimp:.471", CCI#300 Primers.
Here's a pic of a few of them, had a hard time trying to get a close up pic, the cast lead got blurred by the flash.

I put 100 rounds of .357 Magnum down range yesterday. 158 grain plated semi-wadcutter with 6.1 grains of Unique.
Model 27-2 with a 5 inch barrel. Got some decent groupings.
Shot a few 148 grain wadcutters through a Model 15-2 as well. It was my first time shooting the Model 15. It's a buddy's gun and he brought it out for the first time. I just may have to get one.
There was another revolver as well. One from those folks in Hartford, Connecticut. It was alright, I guess.

Yesterday I shot these test loads, and from what I found.
9mm 115gr Berry's with 5.0gr of Unique with OAL of 1.150" was too much recoil, shot pretty close to POA. The 5.0gr of Unique fills the 9mm case up pretty high, so the initial thought is load less grains and seat the bullet slightly deeper around 1.140"
9mm 115gr Berry's with 4.5gr of W231 with OAL of 1.150" shot just a little low of POA, but recoil was more towards factory loads--and was as accurate as I have shot anything else out of my 5906. One thing that I liked about the 4.5gr of W231, is that it doesn't fill up the case nearly as full as the Unique. I will start my next batch with seating the same lead just slightly deeper around 1.140" this hopefully increase pressure enough to increase POI.
45acp with 230gr and 6.0gr of Unique with an OAL of 1.165 was too much recoil for me. While this load and length works extremely well with 230gr Berry's RN plated bullets, it was a much different beast with cast. So I've either got to increase the OAL to 1.175", decrease powder amount, or both. I did have a 2 jam on the feeding, which had the casing being pinched, so I believe I'll need to put a little more taper crimp on the lead, as I crimped at .472"

Today I loaded 400 rounds of 45ACP, all the empty brass I had on hand, to feed my new Springfield Armory 1911. Tomorrow (day off) it will be about 1100 rounds of 40 S&W, then some 38's on Wednesday. The 45 load is a new one, 7.3 grains of Longshot with a 200-grain Rainier plated HP. Should be fun to shoot, and still a half-grain under the max load.

This past weekend I loaded up my first rifle rounds.
On the left are 25-35's loaded with 19grs of Benchmark, and 117 Horandy BTSP. Mistakenly grabbed the BTSP instead of Round Nose, so will only be loaded one at a time in the Winchester to avoid and primer detonation issues. On the right are some .223 rounds for my Mini-14, loaded with 22grs. of Benchmark and Hornady 55gr. FMJ with cannelure.
**Already contacted Hornady to find out why their seater die is marring my 25-35 lead. Awaiting a response from them.

Today, loaded 2,000 rounds of 45 acp with cast lead bullets.
Last week cast 3800 200 grain swc for 45 acp and 1,400 215 grain gc swc and 2,600 200 grain rnfp for the 44 mags. The Lead gods were smiling on me. I harvested 3 buckets of dirt berm bullets in less than an hour. Then it took 3 days to melt into ingots, cast and size the bullets. The berm was dry sand. Went back again and in 4 hours got 1.5 buckets of range scrap. Wet sand don't sift!!

Spent the day acting as RSO for a Boy Scout event.
The participants harangued me into having a go with a 22 rifle at the end.
Put all 10 shots into one hole.
Luck trumps skill any day.

Taking advantage of the cool weather and cast 1000 158 grain bullets for the 357. If all goes well I should have my quota for the year in a few weeks.

Last weekend I loaded up 16 test rounds of some cast lead my father-in-law made.

4.0 Gr. Winchester 231
CCI Large Pistol Primers

Target below is the first clip at 7 yards. 8 rounds with 2.5" group.
