Default Lead Extrusions 240gr plated bullet

This thread is for: Lead Extrusions (italian manufacturer of the cheapest plated lead bullets that I know of available right now in Finland)

240gr plated RN bullet nominally .429 diameter

I took a fistful of bullets and measured them.

The diameter seems to be constant .429 which is low for a plated lead bullet but we'll see.

The shape and lenght varied visibly.
Length was 17.20-17.44 mm.

Weight never reached 240gr, it was on average 235 gr, ranging 232-238 grains.

My load was:
OAL 40.8mm
Powder: 10.5grains of N340 (Vihtavuori)
Magtech casings
Magtech LP primers

I'll post chrono data later.
The gun is a 29-5 with 10.5" barrel.
The one in my avatar photo.

I haven't shot it much in 18 months because it had excessive endshake and the cylinder unlocked at recoil with full load ammo, I fixed those things and shot 100 rounds of full power ammo through it a week ago and will chrono these loads. I will eventually use homecast bullets for this gun.

237gr average on this random batch. The bullet shape is clearly visible.

PF 249. Poor accuracy compared to Magtech factory loads :-/ Too little crimp.

Cheaper than 230gr .45acp.
12 cents a piece if I remember correctly.

I added some crimp to the batch last night, going to do some long distance target shooting tomorrow.

Worthless. Totally worthless. While Magtech factory ammo did 10cm (4") groups at 100 meters from support, my load made 50-100cm "groups." 50% of hits were ellipses, ie. the bullets wobbled a bit sideways.

Some photos:

nice rig

nice target

good support

And totally worthless results. No photos of those. Imagine 00 buckshot from 100 meters.

The last cartridge of my worthless batch. Do you feel lucky, punk?

I've never gotten stellar accuracy from plated bullets, but they're okay for steel plates and such. I'm thinking they're too small for your bore and not being properly stabilized.

I double check with mechanical scale and recalibrate often. No problems with weighing accuracy.
