Powder Measure Stand & Counter
I've been in the process of setting up my reloading bench again after a brief thirty year intermission. One of the things that I had to change was to add a power measure stand because the top of my current bench is to thick for the clamp on the power measure which is what I used to use.
Its easy enough to order a power measure stand from any of the usual suppliers, but I just can't resist the urge to John Deere engineer, oops, I mean innovate and I thought I could make some improvements. My thinking was to incorporate a counter to keep track of the number of powder throws and compare them against the number of rounds in the block when I'm all done. The jury is still out on how effective that is going to be as it is still possible to have a double charge and a squib in the same lot, but I did find an unintended feature that I think I'm going to like. The spring arrangement on the contraption gives it a nice sharp knock that is always the same and saves the additional step of flipping the knocker. Just pull the handle down and turn it lose - always the same rap to settle the powder.
The stand is made of half inch black pipe fittings - they come in various lengths so there is no cutting and threading necessary. The only real fabrication was to cut the ends off of a pipe tee with a sawsall then ream it out a bit with a die grinder. The powder measure is held on to the pipe by the "spout". To remove the power measure to empty it I just unscrew the setscrew that holds the spout in the power measure.
Even with the threads loose enough to pivot all around, the thing is rock solid.

He's my role model. I was going to use duct tape, but it interfered with the bailing wire.

Pretty ingenious idea using the black pipe. I always just clamped my powder measure to the top of my old 1 at a time RCBS jr press. Pretty good idea you have. I like it.

Hill Country is on the right track with home made. I personally would not bother with the counter. If I am single staging I load my blocks and then do a visual check. I made my own powder measure stand which I still use. Mine is mobile and I can clamp it to my bench in various positions. I seen a post several days ago that I really liked and had not thought about. Powder measure location on bench post #11. I like that. Simple but effective.

If I was a John Deere engineer, I would be upset.
