Default 200 grain LSWC loading for M&P 45

I haven't reloaded for 18 years, but have been getting the bug to break out my press and get to work again. Years ago, I loaded a 200 grain lead semi wadcutter for plinking and ran it out of a low end Springfield 1911 with no problems what so ever. I would like to revisit that load. I used Winchester 231 at the time, and none of my bullets were any less accurate than I was. My loads were set up to be relatively mild, as that Springfield had an alloy frame and I didn't know how long it would last.

I know that I'll need to get a new reloading manual to and refresh myself, but I'd like to know if any of you have any recent experience with that load and what pistol powders offer any advantages over the 231 now days. Also, any issues encountered when reloading for an M&P 45 (or 9)?

I've had no issues loading for an M&P9. As for .45s and 200grain bullets, I've had good luck with a Taurus 1911, Red Dot and LSWCs.

HP38/W231 is fine and dandy. One of my favorite powders for just about everything.

Bullseye is good also. Many powders work well in the 45 ACP.

Data for 200 gr LSWC is everywhere. The trick it is to get the correct OAL to feed properly. Sometimes it takes just a fraction more or less.

Congratulations on thinking of getting back into the saddle, again.
Hope you can get all the supplies needed for the job and
start pumping out loads, to enjoy.
Prices have gone up a little............ even a bottle of Hoppe's
#9 solvent raised my eye brows a little.

Have fun.

I started reloading again after almost 30 years and one of my loads I used then was 6.0 gr of Unique behind 200 gr lcswc, WW large pistol primer. OAL 1.255" and taper crimp .471"

Recently I worked up 2 more different loads in addition to the above Unique load.

WST--4.5 gr--200 gr lcswc--OAL 1.255"--taper crimp .471"

HP38/WW231--5.0 gr--200 gr lcswc--OAL 1.255"--taper crimp .471"

I don't own a chronograph to check velocity and these are shot in a full size .45 and all pass the plunk test. The bullets are Missouri Bullet .45 acp 200 gr. lcswc except for years ago and they were Bridges Bullets. All 3 of these loads are about as accurate as I can shoot anymore.

Just some ideas I thought you might be interested in.

For many years the 200gr swc and 5.0 of 231 has been my standard.

Bingo.
Same here and it works equally well in revolvers.
First time out and won the match.
