bullet weights for blackout

So I have been thinking about the jump in bullet weights in the .300BLK. Low 100's to about 150 and then jumps up into the 200's. I'm interested in finding out if a load could be built using a 180g bullet. Comments, questions, or suggestions are most welcome. The comments are the part I really look forward to reading.

I am sure you can load with a 180 with no problem.

The 300 Blackout/300 Whisper/30-223 has enough velocity to work on medium size game such as deer with a 125. It will drive that bullet weight hard enough to expand.

The 200's, and 220's when loaded full power are still Sub Sonic and are designed for sound supresser use.

The 180 is probably a light enough bullet weight to be Super Sonic at full power, but slow enough to not expand. No good application for the 180 other than plinking with it.

What BobR1 said, with 1 exception; If you already have a bunch of 180's and a 300 Whisper. ect. Then use the 200-210 weight data and expect them to behave like FMJ and be super-sonic. You sometimes need to go with what you've got. If you have 30-30 type bullets, they will probably be too slow to expand, but there are tools to make them into Hollow Points, they'll expand then maybe too much). Ivan

Hodgdon supplies load data for A LOT of bullet weights for that cartridge. They list 110gr, 115gr, 125gr, 130gr, 135gr, 140gr, 150gr, 168gr, 175gr, 180gr, 208gr, 220gr and 230gr bullets.

The 180gr bullets they list are Speer SP bullets and they supply data with 6 powders in that bullet weight.

I had a senior moment there. I forget to check on the load tables of the powder makers. Was going with the recipes in the reload manuals that I have on hand. Nosler #7 doesn't list anything over 150g, Lyman's #49 has no listings, or Lee #2. Thanks guys for push in the right direction. I do have bunches and bunches of 180g Nosler bal. tip. Thats why I am asking.
