Looking for load data for extrem 200 bullets yes I know to look up lead but I've got 3 books now and looking for alliant unique charges. I'm not a rookie to reloading just getting my feet wet again after some time off .

Start at 6 grains and go up 1/2 grain at a time.
I would stop at 7 1/2.
Somewhere in there your gun and targets will tell you which one is right.

I never went past 6 grains of Unique...the gun shot SO well I left it alone!!

My Lyman #4 Cast Bullet manual shows a starting load of 7.0 grs of
Unique and a top charge of 8.2 grs with a 205 gr plain base cast
bullet in the 44 Special. Pressure shown is from 10,500 to 14,000 cup.

I use 5 gr of BE with a 204 gr WC I mold in my .44 Spl's for target shooting.
Now, for rats, a 265 gr HP devastator I mold does the trick.
Won't post the powder load, too hot for some revolvers....

Thank alot I've been scratching my head quite a bit with the plated load data I've Been using the unique because I got lucky on vacation and found 8 lbs lol I've got bullseye also been using that in 45 acp.

I am just starting to play around with the plated bullets in my new M69. Picked up 5 of those Xtream 200 gr. bullets at the NRA conventions a few weeks ago. I will be ordering some in the future. What I tried on those 5 in Special brass was 8.5 grains of Unique over Remington Primers. Chronographed these 5 at 900,982,900,919,& 866 fps. from that 4 1/4 inch barrel. the second 982 shot went high, the last 866 shot went low but those three at 900 & 919 made a small three shot group at about 18 yards. Think I will be a little more aware of power throwing next time as it looks like this will be a very accurate load in my gun. I did a bunch of research and am like you, just not sure where to start, so I picked the 8.5 grains as a base line and will work from there when the bullets arrive.

FYI, Berry's and Rainier are now recommending that data for jacketed bullets be used for loading with the caveat that velocities be limited to less than 1200 fps. I've been using jacketed data for plated bullets for several years now and it works quite well. Which makes sense when you think about it because with jacketed or plated bullets the running surface in contact with the barrel is copper, not lead.

I also use Longshot to load my SD practice ammunition and Longshot and Unique have identical structures and metering properties. Meaning they meter terribly with a standard deviation of 0.17 grains. Because of this I hand weigh every charge thrown and adjust the weight of the thrown charge as needed. Because I've seen charges thrown that were as much as 1/2 grain off from the targeted charge weight. BTW, I'm using a RCBS Competition Powder Measure.

This is one reason some of us went to Universal as a replacement for Unique when that dried up.
It behaves in a similar manner but meters way better.
Now that Universal has dried up (maybe for good), we are once again casting around for a mid range revolver powder.

I have started playing with N105 in the 44 special but that is about as slow a powder as I want to use
and there is basically no data for it in the lower pressure rounds.
It theoretically (in QuickLOAD) has the capacity to produce top velocities at 44 special pressure (15Kpsi or less).
This would be excellent for example under a 210 jacketed bullet for all around use especially rural carry (deer, bears, faulty computers).

I load 7 gr. of unique with x-treme 200 gr. plated great load my 24-3 loves it.

Good info, but I have never found the opportunity to buy a single jar of Universal.

I have rounds ready to test today using 7.5 gr. I had been shooting 8.0 gr in my Blackhawk Flat Top and found it too fierce for that type of grip, forcing me to use a glove.

I consider 7.5 to be pretty much tops in the special case and when shot in the L frame 696's or a Charter.
Maybe less in the Charter.
The recoil is something (likewise the aluminum 396).

Heck that 6 gr of Unique under a 255gr Keith style LSWC is what I use for my everyday carry load in my S&W mod 29..... it is flat out pleasant to shoot, even rapid fire, very controllable in recoil...good accuracy too..........I am not familiar with the brand name Extreme Bullets though.....Hope this helps you sir.

Added: Heck I guess that both my friends and I are just lucky in that Unique meters perfectly /consistently through our RCBS powder throwers & through the different Dillon 550B powder throwers we use........well over 90% of the handgun reloading we all do is with Unique....... one fella does complain about Unique being a little dirty........a good crimp helped me with that on Unique & PB.

you two guys are just the 3rd & 4th person to say that since I started using Unique in 1981........

None of us have a chronograph.... while we develop loads gently, and we estimate velocity from the reloading tables of the manuals, and the pistol/barrel length that was used to develop the loads for the manual.... if they used a 6 inch barreled model 19 .357mag & I'm using a 4 inch Python .357mag, I subtract 100fps off their velocities.......We look very hard at fired cases, appearance of spent primers, ease in ejection of fired cases in revolvers/bolt rifles.... etc. and back off loads quickly if any signs of excess pressure appear....

Wow I'm glad I joined I'm not a young rookie but I'm always looking to learn and thanks alot for the info. I am shooting a 629-6 4 inch loaded specials light magnum and some 240 xtp with H110 23.5 grs shot the h110 last weekend the whole range stopped lady next to me dropped her 9 on the floor ha ha ha ha ha my son said don't do that again dad I think it scared everyone.

Big boomers are fun to shoot, and that big fire ball is impressive.
