I ordered some xtreme 165gr RNFP for my .40. I have 250 pieces of brass primed and ready to load. I've been looking around and haven't found any really good load data for them. Does anyone have a load they use for these or atleast a good starting point?

Here's the link to what I ordered:
10/40 - 165 RNFP

I dont think it really matters but I'm loading these for an XD-SA.

Hodgdon's Reloading site has no less than 15 different published loads for the Berrys 165 GR plated Flat point...

Not one exceeds Xtreme's recommendation vis-a-vis velocity.

Might be a good place to start?

Cheers!

I use Xtreme for my 10mm and am able to push them at max velocity with no coating separation. I have a problem with Berry's coming apart.

Loading for 40 S&W should be no problem.

Lots of load data. You can use mid to high end lead data or low to middle jacketed data. I think xtreme suggests mid range jacketed data on their site. Look at their site on the left side there should be a load data tab that explains that. My sheild really likes their 165 over 5 grains of N320 with a rem 5 1/2 primer. Managable recoil, very efficient round in the sheild.

I too have been using TiteGroup in 40 S&W and 9mm with very good results. I used the data from the Hodgdon's website using Berry's bullet data. I have used the X-treme 165 and 180 gr. plated bullets and have some 155 gr. I need to load and try.

What use? Obviously you aren't going to get a PD load with that bullet but if you want a target/match load then I highly recommend 3.7gr Clays. That's pretty much a max load (but not hot at all) and will give 880fps out of a 5" barrel.

Here's what I use in my Glock 22 and Glock 35.

Bullet: Rainier 165 gr. RNFP
Powder: Winchester WSF 5.9 grs.
Primer: CCI-500
Case: Federal
LOAL: 1.130

Midrange jacketed data works fine. A lot of that in manuals & powder sites. As Stormi notes, hodgdon has recently added plated bullets to its data.

... they have added plated?

Thanks for that info, I will have to check it out.

15 loads........!
I am sure he has one of those powders......
guess I will pass.

For what it's worth, I load Xtreme 180 grain hollowpoint bullets for my 10mm. The hollow point and 'Heavy Plate' bullets are rated to 1500FPS from extreme. I just load them using mid to high jacketed data. Honestly, I've loaded the 10mm 180grn ammo to over 1200 FPS using jacketed recipes with AA#9, Blue Dot and Longshot with no issues at all. Point being, even the standard Xtreme bullets are rated to 1200FPS so you should have no problem with them in .40 at all, so long as you are following published data.

Use manuals, stay safe and have fun.

I shoot my 10s out of a G20 Gen.4 with a KKM Precision barrel.

Xtreme 165gr plated bullets

Been trying these recently in my 4013. All & all I'm very satisfied with them. I have to give the edge to the HP style (Hollow Point - Heavy Plate Concave Base) in my off-hand indoor range tests.

No feeding issues, as expected, in the 4013. All rounds had a COAL of 1.135". I tried various loads using CFE-P, Power Pistol, Green Dot & Unique. (No chrono)

All three styles have essentially the same profile with the HP having a slightly longer bullet overall length (BOL) likely due to the hollow point. Both the heavy plate bullets have concave bases.

I only had a small sampling of the 165gr FP (HPCB) bullets & a larger quantity would be needed for a fair comparison to the others.

With the 165gr FP (RNFP) bullet Unique @ 6.4gr & 7.0grs, ~1050 & 1150fps, gave the best results.

With the 165gr HP (HPCB) bullet the above Unique loads gave the same results. Power Pistol @ 6.9gr & 7.2gr, ~1087 & 1135fps, as well as Green Dot @ 5.6grs, ~1045fps, also gave the best results for me.
