I have over the last few months streamlined my pistol, shooting powders down to two (Mulwex AP50N for .38 S&W and .32 Auto and Tightgroup for everything else) and now it is time to do the same for my rifles.
I load .223, .243, 30-30 and .303 British for use in rifles with the 30-30 and .303 rounds both loaded with 150 gn lead projectiles. I know this runs the gauntlet from small cartridge capacity to the old original black powder cases, and ideally I should use different powders, but I have found with my pistol reloading that if I have just one or two powders to choose from things are a lot simpler.
The .223 is a 100 meter goat buster. The.243 is my hunting rifle so needs to be accurate out to 200-220 meters or so. Both the 30-30 and .303 rounds are used only on the range these days on steel out to 200 meters, hence the lead bullet loading.
As Mulwex powders are readily available here I am tending towards AR2208 after looking over the reloading tables. Anyone got any experience, good or bad, with this powder in these calibres? Or a better “all round” powder to try?
