I just got some 500 special brass for my 500 magnum. Cant find reloading online anywhere I currently have Hornady 350 XTP's and powder I have H110, 2400 and Universal Clays any help would be appreciated . Thanx in adavce.
This topic got me thinking. This is coming from a totally curiosity point of mind.
1) Why 500 Special brass why not just download your powder charge in standard brass?
2) Will the 500 Special brass cause the same ring in the cylinder as 38 special brass in a 357Magnum cylinder? Is this any more dangerous because you are dealing with higher pressure?
3) By downloading 500 Standard brass does the powder air gap in the case hurt accuracy?
4) Will you get better accuracy out of the 500 Special brass due to less air powder gap?
I have shot and loaded a lot of 500 S&W Magnum Smith and Wesson's Behemoth Magnums | Day At The Range
So I am not totally ignorant to it but never tried 500 Special brass. What would be a good way to answer these questions? Maybe that could be a good range outing and review?
Would depend on the powders suitability for downloading- for example H110 would not be very suitable for down loading in the 500 S&W case. This topic got me thinking. This is coming from a totally curiosity point of mind.

Yes he is going to have same issue when used in 500 S&W Magnum or 500 JRH in BFR revolvers.2) Will the 500 Special brass cause the same ring in the cylinder as 38 special brass in a 357Magnum cylinder?
Danger always increases with pressureIs this any more dangerous because you are dealing with higher pressure?
Yes his accuracy is going to suffer. I suspect it will still be reasonable for shooting paper.3) By downloading 500 Standard brass does the powder air gap in the case hurt accuracy?
No, the .3" of free bore is going to negate any ballistic advantage (if any) from a higher case fill.4) Will you get better accuracy out of the 500 Special brass due to less air powder gap?
