search for good coffee

I roast my own green coffee beans sourced from "2 Cups of Joe". This insures that the coffee is fresh, and the roast level is controlled. (by me)

I have found the Cameron's coffee sold at Amazon and other places is very good as a "backup" to fresh roasted......and it frequently goes on sale, which makes it a bargain. Organic, blends, flavored, and decaf are available, both whole bean and ground.

Price of a 4 pound bag of their Organic "Scandinavian Blend" whole bean right now is $23.00. Their "Toasted Southern Pecan" and the "Highlander Grog" are both very good, if you prefer flavored coffee.

Do you mix it 50:50 with milk like they do at their cafe? Coffee with chicory and milk was an adjustment for this Yankee. But if always came with beignets, I might just switch.
Cafe DuMonde serves it two ways . Black , or Au Lait .. which means mixed with milk . My Mom is from New Orleans so we made many trips to the Cafe .

. About 10 years ago, I discovered cold brew coffee. Dump your ground in a pot, add water, let sit 12 hours or longer, decant into a pot and filter the rest.

Kevin, you don't mention refigeration, so I want to know if you do place it the frij? ALL cold brew coffee that I have sample so far has a strange taste that I cannot become accustomed too. OTOH, I love regular perk or drip coffee that has been refrigerated, or just poured over enough ice to chill it. I mostly only drink hot cups at home near the computer. All else, and in the car is iced.

My two faves, with DF being a good back-up to either......

The dry side of Kauai has the perfect conditions for coffee. Whatever is in the volcano dirt makes for a very flavorful bean.

The coffee plantation showroom had coffee machines with everyone one of their estate coffee's. I got a caffeine headache drinking them all! My favorite was Blue Mountain.

Drank Hawaiian coffees for a few years, but they are generally very bland/weak for taste/flavor/boldness.

Never got warmed up to like Starbucks.... mostly because of the scene... :(

Used to drink Tulleys when they still had stores in the Seattle area, but they have all vanished some years back.

When I saw the Tulleys Hawaiian blend I thought "what the heck", tried it and have used it ever since -about 4-5 years.... It is labeled as Medium Roast.

Unlike most of the Hawaiian coffees this is not weak in taste/flavor/boldness. It is sold at Costco or you can buy it on Amazon.

Peet's Major Dickason's Blend in our house. Our local market has it at about $10.99 per whatever the shrinking bag size is at the moment. We wait for the sale that comes around every couple months and stock up at $7.99, sometimes even $6.99.

Well, me, I'm still searching. I usually have two to four different coffees in the house which are so-so, I end up mixing them to make a pot, a tablespoon of this one, two of this one and one of this one to top it off. Still tastes the same...so-so. The search goes on.

When I go to a wedding or out where coffee is available, I always think, why can't I make coffee like this. Honestly, I believe it's my coffee maker. Tomorrow morning, I am trying an old school percolator. Wish me luck.

Great thread...

Quite a few years ago had Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee. Was great, found it a few places in the states, but never tasted anywhere near as good as it did in Jamaica. Some sealed in can didn't do any better either. I usually blend Starbucks Italian Roast with Folgers Decaf for a half caf blend. Not great but does the job.

I got hooked on Jacobs Kronung Ground coffee when I was stationed in Germany. I get my fix off of Amazon.

I tried the Hawaiian beans, very smooth but not my style. O did have some Vietnamese beans I really liked buy have not found more. I mostly go for Columbia and Indonesian beans

I always have a 4 shot breve to start the day then a couple of 1 shot Americanos during the morning. Breve= espresso in hot foamed 1/2 and 1/2. Americano = esppresso in hot water

Community Dark Roast . I get the pods from Amazon . About 55 cents apiece .

Another vote for Community Dark Roast. I have had automatic shipment directly from Community Coffee in Louisiana for several years.

As a serious coffee drinker (black, no sugar or creamer) for 55 years there is no coffee better than Community.

We have a local roaster, I remember when they started burning coffee beans downtown back in the early 70's. I've been loyal to them for decades, thier coffee runs in the $11.00 per pound range from memory, I'm stuck on Organic Sumatran for years now. At the rifle club we drink whatever someone donates, lately the crew has been into Folgers and to be honest if you make it strong its pretty good. I don't care for burnt beans and that is what Kirkland's dark roast is, if you are going to gin it up with cream and sugar fine.

I'm a bit of a coffee snob. 20+ years of Army coffee will do that to you. But I'm not spending cash on coffee that came from Cat poo either. If you're a Costco member, there Columbian Supreme whole bean is great. if not, I fall back on 8 'O'clock Whole bean.

I always buy whole bean and grind before. It does make a make difference. on the Weekends I use a French press. during the week it's a coffee machine I can set the night before. the trick to that, is don't use paper filters. They remove the oil in the coffee and that is where a lot of the flavor comes from. use one of those gold mesh filters you reuse.

Then you can say you were being sustainable and lowering your carbon foot print long before it was cool.

Pre-covid, BJ's house brand Guatemalan French Roast, absolutely the best dark roast. Hasn't been available since mid-2022?

BJ's house brand French Roast a good second, buy whole bean grind every night and setup the drip coffee maker for 5am. Also works in a pour over and/or french press depending upon my mood.

Instant, yes I know, Starbucks medium roast in the circular tin. Heaping tablespoon makes a fine cup for the lazy days or hiking trips.

Yes I just discovered PEETs dark roast at Walmart. Kinda in the middle price wise. It’s my new coffee. I think op is referring to K Cups though.
Liked the Peet’s Kcups from WalMt but our latest brewer makes a complete mess with these; the grounds are blown out all over everywhere. I hate having the last two swallows of every cup ruined by grit.
