search for good coffee

Wife and I both like the Keurig. She has what she likes, usually some of the flavored stuff. I have my medium or dark roast. One cup at a time, always fresh and hot, never stale from sitting around.

I still own an old Mirro brand percolator, part of my camping and hunting gear for many years. Makes about a quart at a time, which I pour into a good stainless thermos bottle and enjoy for several hours without it going stale sitting on the stove. Cowboy style, boil the water, dump in the ground coffee, let it steep for a few minutes, pour it into the thermos through a filter to catch the grounds.

Fresh-brewed is the big thing for me.

I have been drinking coffee since I was 6 or 7. Back then I think the folks were drinking Maxwell House in a boil on the stove percolator. When I got married, a Mr Coffee and 8 O'Clock. Then Whole Foods, Starbucks, 8 O'Clock, and many others. Sometimes 30-40 cups a day. About 10 years ago, I discovered cold brew coffee. Dump your ground in a pot, add water, let sit 12 hours or longer, decant into a pot and filter the rest. AMAZING! It is not bitter so even cheap grinds are delicious. I now drink decaf from Amazon and it is wonderful!

Good coffee, like good whiskey, is wasted on me. Used to buy Dunkin Donuts Columbian. Now back to cheaper fare. Need it in the morn.

I drink about 30 ounces of coffee every morning and I would go broke if I drank Keurig pods, plus its annoying because after just a few sidps my cup is empty and I have to make another cup. Any of the cheap brands taste just fine to me and about the only coffee I hate is from Panera Bread, I guess they think people like the taste of burnt coffee beans.

Actually, I am having an issue with coffee. It does not taste as good to me as it once did. I used to do cream and half a teaspoon of sugar. Now, no cream or sugar. They have been substituted with chocolate milk for a mocha flavor.

straight to the essence with Hershey's chocolate syrup and little bit of milk.

I buy Peruvian beans from a self serve tube at HEB for $9.98 per pound. It's the best tasting coffee I've had in many years. I've tried many different brands but always come back to the HEB beans.

Black Rifle Coffee is pretty good. You can get it at Walmart or Scheels. Costco has some reasonable coffees. New Mexico Pinon Coffee is not bad and a good price. Not a Startbuck's fan. Costco also has Peet's.

Every now and then you need to treat yourself. Look for a local coffee roaster and try out a pound. You might be surprised.

Get a French press, stick coffee in press add boiling water, let steep a minute or so press and serve.

I get green beans from Burma coffee, roast and grind them. Always fresh coffee that way. You can get green beans for about $5 on up to $50 a lb.

An air popper for popcorn will do a decent job of roasting the beans. Do it outside because they smoke some as they roast

I'm another roaster. It ruins you for all the other stuff. I get a hard reset every time I travel and get stuck drinking "ordinary" coffee. Just like super-accurate rifles. They ruin you. No going back it seems.

Our costco carries San Francisco Bay brand coffee, the French roast is 17.00 for a three pound bag. I like it much better than all of the more expensive french roasts we've tried.

For the dark roast fans I would recommend Green Mountain Dark Magic. I buy the whole bean and grind it to my desired fineness.
I used to roast my own but gave it up because I wanted to drink coffee, not roast coffee. Kind of like my my experience with bullet casting.
FWIW: When roasted coffee beans lose about 20% of their weight.

I am testing a bag of this right now.
I give it a 7 out of 10 and will be looking for an improved blend
on my next outting. Good price, but average flavor.

When I travel, I take some of my fresh ground coffee and a french press that has a plastic handle. Fill it with water, stick in in a microwave until boiling then stir in the coffee, let it sit then slowly press. Also lots of job sites have the hot/cold water coolers, so I stick in my coffee, add hot water and I am drinking good coffee in a short time. When I go out on a job, my french press and espresso machine are in my kitchen box

I also have a container with one of these machines, a small butane stove, some evaporated 1/2. Toss in some good coffee and I can have my double breve anytime I want miles from anywhere.

Life is to short for poor coffee

I had a PEET's store near me until it closed in August, miss it. I also like most of Caribou's blends, there's a shop I go to 5, 6 days a week. It's part of my social life lol, great staff and usually meet a friend or two there before work.
