I need a coffee maker

Consider the filter type, it makes a real difference, mine uses a #4 filter, tapered all the way down, not a flat bottom. I think you get more out of the coffee this way. Other than that, some features may "excite" you but probably don't really matter. Keeping the bottom clean will reduce the insulation factor, not letting the coffee say hot.
I buy my filters in bulk from Amazon, 600 at a time, around 2 cents. This is also a factor to consider.

I gotta say, I’m a little skeeved out at the thought of buying a used coffee maker. Or anything that has to do with my food that is previously owned. I don’t like using coffee maker in hotels but you’re kinda stuck there. What’s next ? Underwear from the Goodwill.

I would never buy a used coffee maker, but I use the one that was given to me. :D:eek:

I take it you’ve never eaten in a restaurant ? :D

A coffee maker heats water. If you can get one too gross to reuse, there may be issues reading the instructions.

OP, look at used Tehnivorm Moccamaster. Perfect cup every time, held warm as long as you’d like. New is $350 and worth it, used can be purchased smartly for under $100.

As an aside, the used underwear at goodwill was likely only used by one person.

The sheets at a hotel? Hundreds.

I have the 5-cup Capresso coffee maker and their bean grinder. I grind my beans fresh everyday. I've had both machines for years with no problems.
I have the 5-cup Mini drip, $40
and the Infinity Conical Burr grinder $99
Capresso

I like my 10 cup Krups.
Got it from Amazon, as I posted the idiot delivery man threw it onto my neighbors backyard.

I take it you’ve never been in a strangers house…..some people live in filth. If they can’t do basic house keeping they’re not deep cleaning their coffee maker. As to restaurants. They are regulated and inspected. They have a stake in keeping things sanitary and healthy. I get your joke. But I don’t see the comparison.

What he said. The temperature is very important. They are also hand made in Holland and will last a long time. I've got a 1 cup model and it's great. They are consistently rated the best by many cooking channels.
You might want to look at some of James Hoffmans videos on Youtube.

I agree, I have been using a Technivorm Moccamaster for about eight years, makes great coffee and has held up very well

I'll second a thermal carafe type maker. Bought this Black & Decker (model CM2046S) two years ago and it keeps 12 cups of coffee hot for a few hours without a base warmer. You can find these well under your budget.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned Ninja coffee makers. It not cheap but not really expensive either. I have had coffee makers from every price range. Overall Ninja is the best IMHO.

I noticed a difference with my Ninja vs a Mr Coffee when I’m at my GF house. We use the same coffee and the Ninja has a much better taste.

Npw for somethong different...I collect and use vintage brewers. My favorite is a glass pyrex stove top percolator from the 1930s. I also have a siphon sunbeam brewer, you can see one in Rear Window, it's called the Double Bubble by some. I also had a plug in glass perc from the 1960s, a Starlite but it broke last year so I have another similar without lights. I like a good percolator but I also have an old French press. With a percolator make sure you use a coarse enough grind and not to overextract the bean. I'm not a fan of drip brewing, a lot of the depth of the flavor is lost.

Also if you're using a stove top brewer on a glass cooktop make sure you use a heat diffuser to protect your brewer.

I’ve pretty much owned them all and to me the Presto 12 cup electric percolator rules them all. It makes the best, most consistent and hot coffee. Once in a while I do make coffee on a stove top perc. But my wife usually moans about how long it takes so I don’t use it too often.

No Mr. Coffee types for me. We like hot hot coffee.

I was a Bunn user for years.
Received a Ninja when my Bunn died.
Have tried and used a few other brands but the Ninja just seems to make a good cup of coffee.
Water gets hot enough and the head gets all the coffee saturated properly .
Of course if I have time the french press will be used.:)
