My Mr. Coffee died.

This old friend has sat on more river banks and hunting camps than I can remember, never failed to make a suitable cup of coffee. Wife won't let me use it in the house though, for that we use the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew. It will allow you to choose from a single k-cup or a full pot.

One at a time coffee

Just my wife & me at home and she does not drink coffee. We were at a gun show in Tulsa about 6 years ago, (Not That Tulsa show) and Folgers was giving out 'Folger Coffee Singles' packet samples. They gave me about 5 or six samples and they stayed around for a couple of weeks before I tried one. They look like tea bags in a foil pouch. I couldn't believe how good it tasted. I've been using them ever since.
They are not good if you need coffee for several people, but for one person, one bag in cold water, then 1 1/2 minuets in the microwave and as good a coffee as I have had.
YMMV

Thanks for the suggestions guys. There are some good ones here. Seems like most people have strong opinions on their coffee. I know I do!

Both my daughters have the Keurigs and like them. They make good coffee but the single serve cups are expensive and the refillable baskets are a pain to clean out. Not good for a crowd either.

I'll probably take Pawngal's advice and get a replacement Mr. Coffee. Walmart has what appears to be the same one that I had for less than $15. If it lasts half as long as the old one and makes as good of coffee, I'll be a happy camper. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Buy two and keep one in reserve so you'll always be able to make coffee, even when the one you're using breaks.

bought a French Coffee Press for traveling few years ago and it makes a great cup of coffee just as quick as the MW can heat the water to put in it ..we have a 2 cup size but guessing they make larger ones also ..

Which is why its such a great way to make a cup while traveling !!

We bought a Ninja Coffee Bar. It's great. You should really look into them. It is well made, and we'll thought out.

I am intrigued by the French press. Had to look it up. Looks like a good way to make coffee, though best to put coffee in a thermos or insulated carafe after brewing.

I might try that.

Here's my Mr. Coffee story. Received a simple under the cabinet model as a wedding present in 1989. It made coffee everyday without fail, until 2015. This model was discontinued many years ago, so we searched for a replacement. While it was not a Mr. Coffee, it made coffee for about 6 months. In the meantime, we found the duplicate Mr. Coffee under the cabinet model, in our cold storage, which had been given to us as a wedding present, lo these many years ago. It is installed where the original had been, and to date, is working like a charm. Just another example that not everything new is necessarily improved.

just a try to save good coffee from being wasted

Try one like this. They are available in different sizes

Just use a very coarse grind in your French press otherwise you'll end up with muddy coffee and a completely negative experience in the bottom of your cup. My first choice is still a paper cone filter in a holder and an ultra fine grind. I buy cheap 10 oz bricks of brands like Bustelo, Carib, and El Pico (I live in a Latino neighborhood) and with a paper filter they make great strong coffee...but if I used them in the press it would be undrinkable.

We have a no-frills Braun coffee maker that's been around for about 20 years or so, carafe broke but wife found replacement on-line. Still works fine. Cannot be replaced as the model has been long discontinued. If this one bites the dust, will probably go with a Keurig system.

My vote is with the $19 Black&Decker from Walmart. My last one went 12 years. That's only $1.50 a year.

once you learn how much coffee to use to suit your own taste and strength your good to go .. We use a good Jamaican coffee called Blue Mountain we grind ourselves ..with home ground coffee in the press we've learned you don't need too use as much as you normally would with bought grounds..

With the press you'll steep the coffee for a minute or two for it to brew before using the press to remove the grounds and then your able to pour off the finished cup of coffee .. the longer its allowed to steep of course the stronger it will be come and the flavor we be more enhanced !!
