New primer prices

I talked to a friend tonight who just finished setting up for a gun show tomorrow. He said one person there has a 1000 box of primers priced at $1000 dollars! I'll let everyone know if it sells for that much. I might be able to upgrade my retirement at those prices.
Although it doesn't look like primers are being produced for sale at this time, eventually they will become available. I detest gun show commandos who think like P.T. Barnum. I would avoid buying anything from a jerk like that forever.

The show should throw somebody out that would gouge like that:mad:

I would agree, it appears to be gouging. However, it really depends on your perspective! From the point of view of those of us that HAVE components, it is gouging. From the point of view of those that NEED the components, he is engaging in free market economics (Free Enterprise). Either way, his survival is dependent upon "what the market will bear".

I'm not supporting the merchant's approach, because it could hurt the future pricing of components. However, who here would sell a 99% pre-27 Registered Magnum for the MSRP of a current manufacture Model 27? After all, the Model 27 is still being made, just like components!

I am by no means looking to be adversarial but IMO the Registered Magnum vs the M27, is not quite a correct analogy.

His survival is based on a reasonable margin above cost on all products sold and the volume of doing that.

This guy is trying to get a home run on a base hit. He is gouging, taking advantage of sportsmen, and stealing if he can.

I went to the Grants Pass show Saturday. I saw SP primers at $20 to $25 per 100. Misc powders at $80 lb.

Local guy has some today. $250 for a brick on SPP. I told him nice knowing him and walked out. His prices had always been high but this is over the limit. Yeah, I know it's free market, so I am free to shop elsewhere for the rest of my life. Hope others follow the same idea. They must be since he had them in.

Also had 333 round packs of Winchester bulk .22 for $75.

My reloading buddy was at Bass Pro this past weekend during the full moon. He comes to work smiling from ear to ear, and puts a bag on my desk. He got 2K SPP and 1K LPP. Paid $35 per K.

Its refreshing to hear that primers are starting to hit shelves again. Good sign going forward.

Just wait people, things will calm down. They always do.

Prices have not changed much if any. The availability of them is low and some people are scalping what they have or can get at places like gun shows to people who are either wealthy or desperate in some way. People need to stop supporting the scalpers and let them eat what they have.
