Went to Scheel's yesterday in Billings (Mt). It was a worthwhile trip. Didn't really need much but was pleasantly surprised. They had lot's of ammo bullets powder but no primers. I looked at the powder on stock list and bought a couple of pounds...one CFE Pistol and a Win 748. According to the sign I was allowed 2 lbs of each type...and they had approx 30 powders on the list. Prices were of course higher than in the past but not that much. I had someone give me a gift card($25) so I used that and my out the door price was $35. So essentially $30 a pound. On the other hand Cabela's had nothing but some higher priced ammo(than Scheel's) The shooting sports area at Scheel's was busy. Cabela's? a big echo

We went to Omaha Scheels last week to buy my wife some shoes. I always check out the guns/reloading area. It was pretty much what Skeet 028 said about the Billings Store. Wife bought shoes and I bought one box of bullets.
Stopped by Guns Unlimited to see if maybe they had anything I "needed". Scored 8 LB jug of H4350 and 1LB of IMR4350. So it was well worth my time to check it out.:D

You did well..........
I use and like both those powder at my bench.

Always nice to have a Gift card, as well, to help ease the pain of paying for any items that you can find.

I like to hit Scheel's in Sioux Falls, SD and also in Sioux City, Iowa when I am out in that direction. What a fantastic store. It reminds me of what Cabela's could have been, never quite got to and is now SO FAR AWAY FROM that it might just as well be a clothing store in the mall that also has beef jerky.

Sheels here is well stocked but on the higher side price wise. North 40 almost always has better prices, Sheels does price match though.

The Scheels here in The DFW metroplex in The Colony is my favorite place to go. Nice staff. May not always have all the newest guns in stock but they have enough to make me look. Take the dogs up there and just walk around for an hour on the weekend. Great place. Reasonable or better prices on lots of quality items. Really can't recommend them enough for people who've never been. Even while I write this I'm wearing a Scheel's T shirt.

To be honest I underutilize Scheel's. Just never think about them....and for me to go to the store I have to go through 2-4 traffic circles. Hate those things... The person that invented them should be lobotomized...or maybe they were already when they invented them!

I like Scheels - frequent the one in Reno. I visited last week when I was in town for the big Reno show. Same situation there, lots of ammo, components, but no primers. Like the OP, I had a $25 gift card so I bought 3 boxes of CCI Maxi Mag 22WMR @ $17 per box of 50. Paid the balance and split.

I have a Scheels 60 miles away. If I am passing through, I usually stop just to look around. I am fortunate that I am pretty well supplied.

A few years ago they were closing out the Franchi Affinitys when they made some cosmetic changes and came out with the Affinity 3.0 and 3.5. I bought a 3.0 for a young friend in SD as a graduation present. I got it for $600 and I got a $50 discount for signing up for a credit card.

My closest Sheels is in Reno, Nv., 275 miles away. I go there when I go to the Reno gun shows. I have a Scheels credit card, so I accumulate gift cards and wait for the trip.

I don't remember a North 40 south of G. Falls. It is a nice place though.

roundabouts

I always thought that roundabouts were sponsored by the area body shops to ensure a constant stream of business!!

Don't have a scheels within an hour but I always stop in when I'm driving far enough north or south. Reminds me of how Cabelas was pre bass-pro, but with lots of other stuff and brands as well.

I enjoy browzing at the Iowa City, Iowa store. Lots of interesting stuff especially in their premium gun section.

I was at Guns Unlimited in Omaha Saturday, for the first time in 15 years. I moved to Oklahoma in '04, but my kids have recently moved back up there so I visited while I was visiting. Scored an 8 lb. jug of Win. 244 while I was there. The place hasn't changed a bit. Now what is this Sheels you are all talking about? That wasn't there when I moved. But Cabellas was sure a lot more than it is now. I wouldn't cross a deserted street to go to Cabellas now. Thanks bASS pRO!
