No new CCI primers for balance of 2022?
I was just reading somewhere that CCI has come out to say they will not be shipping any primers during the balance of 2022. Has anyone else seen anything along those lines. Not good news if true.

I hope this doesn’t come out of my mouth as rudely as it probably will but if you just read it and it occurred to you that you might open a new conversation based entirely on it, did you not consider grabbing a link so we can see if CCI said this or if the brother-in-law of the guy who’s teenage daughter walks dogs for a CCI middle management accountant said it when he pulled through the Starbucks drive through to grab his latte?
Arrrgh. See? I am not to be trusted!
My sarcasm is intended as humor.

I am not allowed to say where I saw that. I tried once but got in trouble for breaking the rules. However, I think I am allowed to tell you that it probably wasn't the brother in law of anyone who works at Starbucks. If nobody else has heard anything like this from a reputable source then I'm not going to worry too much about it.

It appears that the person who passed that info on got it from a source that is about a month old. I doubt that any primer news that old would still be a secret. I'm guessing (hoping) it's just based on old rumors and hearsay. It wouldn't be surprising though.

Are they shutting down the factory? If they are going too keep working what are they going too do with them? Just a couple of thoughts! Larry

There have been stories on various shooting-related websites and YouTube for the past several months to the effect that no more CCI primer shipments will be made in 2022. But most such sources plead secrecy regarding how they found about it. I really wonder about why and how such information is being kept secret regardless of whether it is true or not. If CCI was indeed ceasing primer shipments, why wouldn’t they just say so? Same for all other primer manufacturers.

I looked through Vista Outdoor's site and found nothing like that so yeah, I'm not too worried about it. It did surprise me to hear it though which is why I wondered if anyone on here had heard anything.

I doubt its true, probably a rumor started by a hoarder that wants to cash in his primers. Store shelves have been pretty full lately of ammo, I haven't seen so much ammo in stock since before the pandemic. I suspect primers will become more available in the future, not less available unless things get "mostly peaceful" nation wide again.

Maybe someone in "authority" (i.e. a NRA officer, a conservative politician, a publisher of a gun magazine, whatever, etc) should contact the hierarchy at Vista and see if they can speak "on the record".
Certainly a rumor like this would hurt their reputation in the eyes of their customers. If I was the CEO I would start speaking publicly in a hurry.
Unless it was true.....then I'd keep my mouth shut.

I’m at the point now that I believe reloading components are going to be permanently banned.

CCI primers are the ONLY brand I've seen for sale around here in the last 6 months.
They seem to be the only company getting the product to the store shelves. Price has dropped to $50 per 1000.
Hornady too, must be cranking out bullets at a good rate.
The only pistol and rifle bullets for sale here are Hornady.
Shelves are full of Hornady bullets but no others.
I haven't seen Speer, Nosler or Sierra bullets for a couple years now.

I haven’t seen primers for a long time (at $50/M or less), don’t know exactly when, but I’ve given up looking around for them. I’m using what I’ve got and when they run out, if prices are still crazy and/or components unobtainable, I’ll consider then if it’s time to sell most of my guns and find another way to amuse myself. I’ve just about had enough of this nonsense. I can get by for years on fifty .45s or .357s. They don’t spoil, and if you’re not shooting them I guess they won’t need to be replaced. Did I say I’m fed up with this stuff?

Starting rumors like this is counterproductive to the community. Without a trusted source we have no wag of knowing what is and is not true. There is nothing good coming out of this thread so it is history...
