Does anybody know (actual experience preferred) if an RCBS Rock Chucker 2 and an RCBS JR 2 have the same foot print for mounting? I recently acquired a JR 2 and am not sure if I like it or not. I had Rock Chuckers in the past and may have to get an older used one.

I specifically and wondering about if the Rock Chucker will bolt right where my JR2 is. The mounting hole spacing and distance fore and aft to the bench.

Inline Fab sells different mounts for those presses so I am guessing the answer is no.

The aluminum mounting plate RCBS sells has press mounting holes on the right half. There is only one pattern of holes for that size bolts. (I drilled and tapped a hole for a Lyman All American Turret press 25 years ago. One hole was the same location as RCBS' and the other was about 5/8" off.) Since then, I've experimented with 4 different RCBS presses, and they all fit the same bolt pattern. The Actual shape is different, but the bolt pattern is the same.

I've got one of each, but the RC2 is mounted to an Inline Fabrication plate and the JR is stashed away. The mounting pattern must be different, because Inline Fab shows different plates for the two.

I re-did my bench and bought their flush mount quick change system with some extra mounting plates. It free's up a lot of space and is really slick! Their storage brackets are also handy. If I hadn't permanently mounted the Dillon 650 before I learned about the quick change system, it would be on an Inline Fab QC plate too.

I previously had the RC, case trimmer and powder measure permanently mounted. I bought some wood dowel rods, cut them to the thickness of my bench, added wood glue and hammered them in place. It makes for a really strong repair and allowed me re-drill holes as required.

I even got the Mrs. to make me some custom covers!

I checked RCBS website and they have a slew of new presses. I figured no one would have any idea about the older stuff. Well I am going with the Rock Chucker. I will be pounding in glued up dowels if necessary. I searched that aftermarket mounting stand but didn't find that chart for the plates. It just had the one displayed and what fit it with a blurb saying other plates were available. Thanks to all!

Wow. I had that same reloading bench. Gave it to a friend. As far as the 2 presses.. I disremember if they match. But I also recommend one(or 2) of the RCBS mounting plates. One for presses...one for accessories. I see you also have a Dunbar or is it a Herter's Model 9? I cut a bunch of square wooden plates to mount all the presses on...all have the same mounting hole spacing. Even for the Dillon 750s and 550s with strong mounts and swap them out for one or the other. I even have a plate for a Dunbar/Herter's. All made from furniture grade plywood so they are somewhat purty:rolleyes:

Well, I received the 1970's vintage RC2 and can definitely say the footprints are different. No need to fill the JR2 footprints holes with dowels as they are not even close to being the same or interfering with the RC2's mounting holes.

Enjoy your RCII. I have a sentimental attachment but it's my favorite press.
