Default My new .38 caliber Baby-Russian in action with a VIDEO

Hi to all!

I confessed three weeks ago that Swissman broke his word and bought at an auction another S&W (Model 1-1/2).
This was not the whole truth. (I understand, if you're shocked now) The truth is, that i bought two other guns.
Yesterday I found the necessary permission in my mailbox and I drove today to the gundealer to pick up both guns.

I like to introduce you my kicking Baby-Russian. It costs me ca. US$ 150.--. The guns condition is pretty good for a
more than 120 years old gun. The barrel and the chambers are in great shape. Extraction and mechanic is like new.
Her name is #23190.

My buddy and I can't wait to shoot that baby with my buddy's loads. Here are the pics and a little video that shows how that
baby kicks.

The gun, like I picked it up.

The first shots... and I started to trust this little gun....

The video...just click at the pictures to see the baby in action... (Dani was the cameraman)
(please excuse my flinching by the last shot) Loading-time for the video is ca. 20 seconds.

Then we tried with the last five rounds some long-distance - shots. Not that easy with this kind of sight. But I am
pretty sure that this gun hits four out of five in the 8 or better, if the shooter can support the hands.

Back at home, and ready for cleaning..

Nice baby...

I hope you've enjoyed the show

Swissman

Default WHAT FUN!!

+1 on camster's suggestion.
I've never seen one of those fired before. It looks like it'll do the
job! They were meant to be shot, and I'm glad you took it to the
range. Good video!
I wish you many more trips, and many more fine guns. Thanks, TACC1.

Swissman, that is an excellent demonstration. Thank you! I may find myself acquiring some 19th century S&W models some day.

I very much enjoyed your video. I too, have several of those antique revolvers in .32 and .38 caliber. They are a joy to shoot and are most accurate. I hand load the cartridges using blackpowder substitute, Hodgdon Triple Seven. They are great guns.

I really enjoyed the video. Now I'm encouraged to try shooting a couple of my old pre-1900 Smiths. Thank you!

Edit: Are you shooting smokeless powder in your revolver? Any idea of the load? Thanks.

Charlie

Swissman, that was a real nice post. There is alot of nostalgia and history that goes into shooting an old gun like that. Its great your gun has a good bore and chambers so you can shoot it. Thanks for your effort I enjoyed the video. -Chad
