Well - not sure who told you the worth a lot, but you have a very common 32 Safety Hammerless, 1st Model shipped around 1898 that has seen lots of use. These guns are not of great value unless pristine and yours is probably worth less than $200. Some would add for the non-factory pearl stocks, but they have some issues and not S&W, so they do not add any value for me, but maybe others might have differing opinions. So it is not valuable, but it is not worthless either, especially if it is a shooter.

I grab everyone I see for under $200 if they are in pretty good shape. Got one made in 1902 in 38 S&W last month for $150. Shoots great! Those pearl grips may not be S&W and they may not be perfect; but, real pearl is still expensive and a lot harder to find than the old black composition ones.

I would have to agree with Gary on this one. A very common gun with some condition issues. As said, it has no real collector value due to condition and as a shooter its only worth a couple of hundred. I would go back to the person that thinks it very valuable and see if they will give you $500 for it.

Then take that money and go buy another one in much better condition (assuming that you want one in your collection) or go buy another shooter for $300 and put $200 in your pocket.
