"Wild Bill" Hickok was carrying a S&W Model Number 2 when he was murdered in a Deadwood, South Dakota saloon.

Did y'all know that?

Carl Hellstrom, president of S&W made a speech on October 21, 1952 at the Smith & Wesson factory in Springfield, Massachusetts. The occasion was the 100th anniversary of S&W.

The speech was titled: "S&W 100 Years of Gunmaking! (1852-1952)"

Got this tidbit from the speech.

Cool

The #2 Project and data base were transversed to the SWCA In Oct 2023 all my files on the number two are in Charlie Pates possession.
I would like to thank the members who have helped make the Model 2 project work. There are still a lot of number 2 s unaccounted for so please fill out survey form Ron Curtis #20

Thank you, Ron, and folks please continue to support this effort. This data is awesome for collectors, Civil War aficionados and anyone that has an interest in knowing when their heirloom was introduced to the world.
