Has anyone seen "NO" used as an assembly number on a Model 1 Second Issue .22 revolver. I think I have a S&W, but am unsure. No barrel markings left. Might be a S&W clone, but it sure looks like one. I have an original and the cylinder fits, cylinder stop is a little different shape and the grips are a little smaller. Any ideas?

There are many alpha combinations of letters used by the fitters & asssemblers on the Model 1s, so "NO" may well be correct. If the NO is on all three items ( cylinder, barrel & frame) in the correct places, it's probably a genuine S&W. Photos of your gun would be a great help in giving you a definitive answer. Compare the barrel rifling to a genuine S&W. Clones often had different numbers of lands,, grooves & twist rate.

Thanks,

That's a great idea. I appreciate it.
