Default My experience

I am finding pre-29 cases (for 6 1/2 inch guns) from that period to be around $200 (without lower lining) to $400 without any tools.

$250 to $300 (but, it really depends on condition and if there are tears in the lining, etc.).

Default early case

Excellent cases are almost impossible to find. The interior pieces were really pretty cheap and the linings tore easily. When buying one I look for the outside to be in good shape with a good logo and lettering on the top and no tears to the black/blue paper covering. The inside liners can be replaced and the supporting pieces can be redone to better support the gun and make it so the liner doesnt tear as easily.

A decent box is probably worth in the $300-$400 range. 4" boxes are worth a premium on top of that although one just sold recently on Ebay for $175.

Below are tops of two of mine, the 1st one being a little better than the second.

Please note, you need to read Doc44's expert commentary on the early display cases, to make sure you get the one you need.

My pre-29 case (early pebble grain) is 14 x 7 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches. These are external dimensions.
