I tried search, but could not find any old threads on this topic. Is there someone on the forum who can reline / rebuild the bottom section of a pre-29 presentation case? Thanks.

This may be a place to start :

Antique Toy Repair - Randy's Toy Shop - Quality First Antique Toy Restoration Inc.

There was a thread here, couple of years ago, and it included a reference
to someone who repaired toy boxes, etc. Seems like the name was
Randy something on other. This web site has a phone number - call them
and ask if they are the ones, or if they know who it is.

I sent a collapsed 1899 box, and they got it back together. I didn't want
them cleaning it up, as I wanted to preserve as much of the original
cardboard as possible.

I can!

Here is one of my restoration projects. The pic was a progress report to the customer with the only 4" 29 I have.

We have a forum member that refinished two for me and even replaced a broken hinge with an identical hinge. They came back looking awesome and I was super pleased.

jcelect........just got 2 back. Outstanding work.

I am very impressed with these pictures.

What is the cost for getting one of these fixed and do you have to send in the box or just the dimensions?

Are there options to the configuration of the layout?

? ? ? ?

Hey SWBigBang
Are you referring to the early black cases or the Mahogany Presentation Cases? To restore the black cases I build a new top and bottom liner to insure a good color match in the new satin cloth. When I restore a Mahogany case I used the deteriorated original liners. S&W used 4 different types of liners for the cases from 1960 to 1983 when they changed the type of box used. I have extra restored cases for sale of different barrel lengths. Please email me with any question you may have!
