Gun Show Find - K22 Masterpiece (Pic)
Hi everyone - Found this K22 5 screw, square butt, SN 917XX yesterday at a local gun show - not from a dealer but from a private individual wanting to sell it. Serial numbers all match including inside the grips. Gave him $400.
Took it home, shot it and it is just wonderful. I've heard so much good about these 6 inchers - just had to have one. Actually I'd have paid more than $400 for this one. No signs of abuse or refinishing.
Any opinions? Did I do OK? I think it shipped in 1950.
Thanks
Steve

Congratulations on buying a great gun at really good price. You are right According to the book it was made in 1950. I love mine that was made in 1952 and they are great shooters. I have seen a lot of 22LR revolver purchases lately up here and I'm sure the current ammo prices has has a lot to do with it. You can have a lot fun for around $16 bucks with one and 500 rounds of ammo.

Excellent gun, excellent price. As others indicated, this is a 1950 gun. You have a true midcentury classic. Congratulations!

Absolutely. I spent a bunch of time at the show on Saturday and found nothing exciting. I went back on Sunday after church only because I had two hours to kill before going to a visitation.
This is my "new" most favorite gun.

I too picked -up an old 5 screw .22 Masterpiece. I wonder
what year it was manufactured. The serial number is K 75xxx It has some wear, but got it for $ 200.

Al, looks like 1949. Nice gun. Four inch barrel, but without a ramp front sight so not in the combat configuration.
Definitely worth more than what you paid for it!

Based on your serial number, your K 22 was made in 1949. You got a great deal on it - it is a nice looking gun.

That serial doesn't look right. A post-war K frame with target sights should have a K prefix.
