A couple of simple pointers ...
The model numbers are pretty random, IMHO anyway. They are supposed to make sense, but often don't.
For instance, when the Model Number's first digit is a 6, it's made of stainless steel. Sometimes the stainless version is the same number as the blued version but with a 6 added to the front. Example: the Model 29 is the blued steel version of the .44 Magnum, and the M629 is the stainless version. Ditto for the M57 and M657. Simple, no?
So just when you think you understand the system, you hear of the M610, and naturally think, "Oh yeah, that's a stainless Model 10."
WRONG! The M64 is a stainless M10, while the M610 is an N-Frame chambered for the 10mm cartridge. IE, not only a different cartridge, but a different frame size! Isn't this fun?
