Hard to give an opinion without at least a picture, but I think a four-inch Pre-34 in the condition you describe might be at least a $400-500 gun. The shorter barrels are rarer and may command a higher price among collectors. $600? Even $700? Don't know.
My sense is that non-model-marked KGs in general have been getting more expensive in recent years. The early Model of 1953 guns aren't as expensive as the postwar transitional and prewar guns, but the prices are still kind of high compared to other revolvers of similar vintage.
I hope someone else who follows these 1953 Model KGs will speak up. I'd like to learn, too.

Are you trying to sell or buy?? I would say 500 easily, more if it has box and tools.

Looking to buy one I just saw. Not sure if it had the box or goodies. It's priced at $425, so it seems to not be overpriced. I've been researched more on the forum and other places and it does seem that prices have gone up...

Success! Here is a quick cell phone pic - no box or papers and in need of a little clean-up (some green gunk on the grips but they are original with matching SN...), but I'm very happy with it...

That is a nice gun! And it sure looks all of 90%.
I've had a very similar 4" for over 30 years (4 didget serial number) - it's made a lot of miles with me in those years - I'm really fond of it. And it's still in excellant condition!

Thanks - when I thought about how much fun my kids and I could have with this (and my K-22 CM), I figured why not...

Nice gun! I would have bought it also. You'll have to tell us how it shoots.

Very nice. I am very happy with mine which I bought on here. You still see some 34's available on GB & AA at more reasonable prices than other Smith 22's.

Got to the range a little while ago.
I ran 36 Aguilla Standard velocity and 12 each Remington Golden Bullet Bulk, Federal Bulk, and CCI Minimags. 72 total rounds.
Intersting (or annoying) was that I had 6 light strikes with the Aguilla stuff - 5 on one cylender alone! They all lit off on a second strike. I have had 3 of these occur with the K-22 CM using this ammunition, but none with any other ammo - so maybe I got a bad lot or Aguilla just has hard cases / primers? Any thoughts? All the FTF were using DA (same with the K-22 with the same ammo)... Everything else lit off fine...
Here is a target from 10 yards, 6 shots CCI Minimags from DA. Not bad.
As a treat (time was limited), I shot 12 - WWB 38 SPLs through the Model 66 and followed it up with my first 357 Magnum rounds (12 S&B). Sweet! I've shot 357, 44, and 50's before but it had been awhile! I did it more for fun but it was grouping nicely - soon I need a dedicated range trip for the 66 with some of the Speer GD rounds I bought...
A pleasant little range trip... I may go back later to shoot some more with the 34 and K-22...

On a gun of that age, it would not be uncommon for previous applications of gun oil to have turned to shellac and impede free movement of parts - hammer, firing pin, etc - you get the idea. It might be enough to cause an occasional misfire.

Yeah, it's in need of a more complete cleaning I think - also it only happens with the Aguilla ammunition, so it's probably a combination of factors...

That's really a nice score. Was it a red box, blue box ?
