Default Lend-Lease markings

Just acquired a lend-lease victory model 38 S&W, and was wondering about the markings on the barrel and cylinder. There is a "crown" over BNP on cylinder and barrel, and .38", .767, and 3 1/2 tons on the barrel. The .38 is obvious, but what about the rest?

Those are British proof marks. They were applied when the revolver was release from the British military. The 3 1/2 tons is the pressure rating. Do not know what .767 means. Maybe case length?

Yes, .767 is the case length.

On your Lend-Lease, is the lanyard ring round or elongated? I ask this because I have one that has a round lanyard ring but all the photos I've seen show them to be elongated.

The answers given are right on. I can only add that BNP means Birmingham Nitro Proofed.

NP w/o the B means it was proofed in London.

The elongated type is factory, the round ones are British from my observations.
