Default HE? or J frame

The guy selling this gun says that it is a Hand ejector, but I am not so sure it is not a J frame gun. Perhaps I have my nomenclature mixed up?

Hello, it is a J-frame Hand Ejector. A Hand Ejector is any SW with a swing out cylinder as opposed to a tip-up or top-break and you use your hand to push on the ejector rod to expell the empties, they are made in all frame sizes. Gun appears to be a 32 Hand-Ejector or Model 30 as they were called when model marking begain.

Yup, it may be a J-frame, but it's still a hand ejector like all the other modern guns.

OK thanks, I guess I always thought of the .32 HE as an I frame gun.

The .32 HE was first produced on the I-frame, later the improved I-frame, and finally the J-frame.

Have we now thoroughly confused you?

That particular gun is interesting in that it's early Bangor Punta production, and prior to the elimination of the flat thumbpiece. That would narrow down the date of birth to say 1965-'66. Should also be marked MOD 30-1 (in the yoke-cut) The 30-1 was the first .32 HE/Model 30 built on the J frame beginning in 1961.

It looks like a I frame to me. In front of the trigger guard is shorter then a j frame.
