Default Questions on Refinished Triple Lock

A friend of a friend of mine has offered me a New Century Model. I havenīt seen it yet but he sent me some pictures (attached).

Itīs a TL that has been poorly refinished. Sideplate edges has been rounded off and (for what I can see in pictures) the third lock seems buffed too.

I found interesting the 4" barrel. I believe this particular barrel length is not as common as the 6 1/2" barrel.

Stocks seems to be original and in acceptable shape (no cracks or chips).

Front sight has been modified from the original round blade to some kind of serrated ramp insert, pinned at the base of the original front sight.

Owner is asking 550$ but I guess he would probably take 500$

What do you think?

Itīs obviously a shooter and Iīm afraid I dont have a clue about what would be a fair price to pay for it.

I know it has no collectable value at all. Just to fill my need for a TL.

Thanks.-

If I understand correctly a factory 4" has the patent info on the side as does the one pictured. Another member bought one at Tulsa that had a bad nickel job and late model grips and he was happy to pay $800+ for it. I'd say that gun is a steal.
