One of my latest acquisitions was a 1955 .45 Target Model with serial number S1601xx from 1956, I think. A 5 screw with a 6&1/2" barrel that someone left laying around in a bad-to-the-finish location, pics will show you what I mean. Target hammer and trigger with all numbers matching.
The grips that came on it are very nice targets but not with the diamond so I put these on it for shooting. They are not correct either but for this shooter I don't care.
The thought of having it reblued entered my mind but after I shot it and just lathered on the Hoppe's #9 and scrubbed it with an old toothbrush I've about decided to just keep it the way it is. Kind of nice not worrying about the finish.
One interesting thing about the old gun is it has one of the W main springs, first one I've seen or owned. Here's some pics with one of my targets from 12 yards, shot single action with some of my reloads. Next time I go I'm going to try her from 25 and 50 to see what she'll do.
