Welcome to the Forum. Photos would be most helpful here, as there are several different possible models, or it may not be an S & W. Click on Post Reply under the last message, then Manage Attachments. There will be a box to enter the location of your photos from your computer or a web site.

It is most likely a .32 Hand Ejector, model 1903 and likely shipped that year. I presume it has a latch on the left side on the frame to open the cylinder?

Sorry I don't have a camera. Yes it has a latch on the side. It is in very good condition. My dad left it to me. Any idea the value of it?

32 lr
the gun in the photo in your post has been refinished, due to the trigger and hammer being nickled. smith did not plate these. they are suspose to be case colored. more valibable as heirloom than worth.

I'm not certain the gun has been refinished. The hammer and trigger appear to be a patina or nor case color left rather than nickled. It's not in all that bad a condition, depending on the bore and cylinders, but not a high condition gun. They made lots of these, and would est. value (if not refinished) as in the range of $200 - $300. If it has been refinished, deduct about $100 from those numbers.

It is a .32 HE, model of 1903. If you are able to take close-up photos of the hammer/trigger, both sides of the gun and stampings, we can give you a better idea of whether it has been refinished. I agree the hammer/trigger case coloring may just be faded.
