Pre Mod. 17, K-22 three digit S/N
What do you think the age of a three digit serial number K-22 is? I am predicting it in the first or second year of production after WWII. Sorry to report that this one is wearing Black rubber grips and has had a target Hammer installed but the low serial number seems to continue to draw my attention. If it can be bought for $600.00, would you spend the money on a 85 to 90% revolver without any accessories? Thanks for any suggestions, expert or otherwise!

The short answer is "Yes" I would quickly spend the $600 for a 3 digit gun. But I just love K-22's so they are "my thing". The rubber grips wouldn't bother me, they can be changed. As far as the year of manufacture, I would hazard a guess of 1947. Few (and I mean very few) were shipped in 1946. Dick Burg knows for sure but I believe only 50 or so were in 46. Please buy that gun and post us some pics.
And HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Sam, go get it. If you decide later you don't want it, you will be able to resell it at no loss and possibly a profit to someone on this forum.
Two three-digit K-22 threads on the forum at the same time! Coincidence is working overtime.
Roger is right about the date -- probably early 1947.

I need to finish the story
One of my good friends had expressed an interest and decided to visit the same show today. I took him to the seller's table and he/we gave it a once over. We removed the rubber grips to be sure there were no issues under them, frankly the only issue for me was the "out of time" problem at some time in its passed. No rust just honest wear which is usually acceptable to me. My final assessment is: This is/was a Shooter Grade/Condition revolver but is priced in the "Collector Category". Having said that and knowing its already sold, I'm really glad someone who can and will appreciate it has become the new owner and I saved some cash! Thanks to all who were interested and hopefully there will be a few photos in the future! Congratulations to the new owner!!!

I think we can assume you haven't been watching these early postwar guns sell recently. You can't find one under $500 these days, and those are often seen with warts. Times have changed. Any 3 digit K22 in presentable shape is a steal at $600. A good or very good, not perfect gun will often approach $1000 with its box. Perfect or true collector grade guns with a low serial are worth $1500 easy with box and screwdriver. Its what they sell for. Times have changed. Even gasoline is "worth" $3.30 a gallon.
