THE AMAZING COLOSSAL LADYSMITH!!!
At least, that's what it looks like to me. Some of you may remember my earlier post: The Incredible Shrinking 1917!!! (also in nickel!) Well, I've filled in the gaps for the shiny version and extended it even larger with the S&W .500.
From top to bottom:
My first Ladysmith .22 Long, overbuffed and nickeled but with real mother of pearl grips.
Regulation Police in .32 Long, with imitation MOP grips. I looked repeatedly for real MOP but I suspect the RP grip style was just too odd for there to be many out there. These are from tombstonegrips.com. They come oversize and have to be fitted.
M&P in .38 Special with real MOP handles.
Triple Lock in .44 Special with real MOP. I've posted pictures of this gun before with the Ladysmith.
.500 S&W with old Tyler's Tru-Fit imitation MOP grips that I picked up via Gunbroker. Cost a bit more than the $5.00 penciled on the box. This illustrates that the .500 grip frame truly is the same as a round butt K frame. I don't know if anyone makes round-to-square imitation MOP grips - if they do, that would've been nice to find.
And for you youngsters out there, here is the inspiration for these two posts:
IMDb - The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) The Most Incredible Story - Ever!
The Amazing Colossal Man (1957) - IMDb Savage Giant on a Blood-Mad Rampage!

Very interesting spread.
Pearly and shinny stages of growth with excess steroid use
at the end.
With those grips the 500 looks like some bodybuilders I have seen.
Really enjoy seeing the whole family.......guess the L frame
is the black sheep.

Heck, a Tyler T and those MOP k-frame grips would tame that 500...
That's a neat picture.

Tom ,very strange.
I like how you shot the photo sans color.
I know about these things too.
I considered concealed-carrying my 460 XVR but the scope kept hanging
up on my belly.
Keep up the good work. The world can always use another wise guy.

Cool photo!
Don't give up on rd to square K frame for the 500. I have a pair of imitation MOPs for the I and J frame rd butts converting either one to sq butt. I have to think they made for K frame and I'll keep an eye open for a set.

Some grips are for shooting, some are for looking at. The pearly ones are for looking.
There, I just saved you a dollar!
