Default Wolff Spring Kit, 5-Screw same as K-Frame?

Does the old M&P 5 Screw take the same spring kit as the newer K-Frame revolvers or are they different? Thanks.

Ask the spring manufacturer to be certain.

I did find a pic on Wiki that showed the lock work from the 1905 M&P and the caption said that it had been pretty much unchanged from that point onward so it seems to reason that a 5 Screw and a M10 would have the same springs(hammer and trigger to be exact.)

I installed a Wolff mainspring in my k-22 outdoorsman. Fit right in and ended a serious FTF problem with the gun.

I looked in my old S&W parts book and it seems the hammer spring is the same part number on all frames, new and old style, but the rebound spring had two different numbers. Don't know the difference beside the PN, so I would agree that a call to Wolff would be in order. The whole idea is to get a balance with the two springs. I have not changed springs in my pre-10 guns, but I have used J. Miculek spring kits in several others. They are all the same for K,L, and N guns and he does not differentiate between the K frame guns.

If by some stroke of luck I get this gun(wife doesn't want to turn lose of any of our tax refund money simply because I'm unemployed, go figure) and I do a Wolff spring kit I plan on going stock weight for the hammer spring and 14#(that's 1# lighter then stock) on the trigger spring or what ya'll are calling the rebound spring. That along with some polishing up should give me a pretty good trigger pull. Thanks for the replies.

Many feel that by using the 13# spring cut to the length of the factory spring, you get the sweetest possible trigger pull. Just FYI. If the trigger doesn't rebound properly, you can always use the 14# spring.

Let us know how it turns out.

All the best,

The 14 pound rebound spring will be all right, and I wouldn't go lighter unless the action has been smoothed properly (read up on this if you haven't done it before). FYI, the stock factory rebound spring is 18 pounds.

Stock rebound spring is 15# and I've owned many, many S&W revolvers and all but the M27's were opened up and I smoothed the actions and installed Wolff springs in em'. Next to the 1911a1 the S&W revolver is one of the easiest guns for me to work on ever. That's why I always tend to come back to em'.
