Another K-22 with strange grips
This K-22 came from a local fellow as well. She has some
holster wear but is in ok condition. Shoots perfect.
The grips came with the pistol. He couldn't remember where he got them or what he did with the originals. Too bad.
The serial number is K 2986XX.
Can you tell me when it was made?
Thanks

They look like a pair of early custom Herretts. Nice find.

I was gonna say Herrett's as well. They look like they were the kind you ordered by sending a tracing of your hand and got back a set that were supposed to fit you perfectly. They were all the rage for semi-auto pistols especially, but I have seen them for revolvers as well. The guy that put them on a M-17 must have been a hardcore revolver guy though, as by that time most serious Bullseye Shooters were using High Standards, or Woodsmen, or a Clark-built Ruger for the rimfire leg. I would have expected them to be on a K-38, which seemed to hold its popularity for the "Centerfire Leg" longer than any other revolvers. Anyway, they are still a nice find indeed!

Thanks. I cannot find any markings on the outside of the grips.
There are some pencil marks on the inside, but I haven't had them off since i bought and cleaned the K22.
These are the most comfy grips I have ever used. Once you have the hammer back, the trigger falls perfect for a smooth straight back pull with just the tab of your finger.
I have considered moving them over to one of my .357's.
They are perfect for steady long shots on bushytails with this
K22.
Thanks for the date of manufacture on my little friend.

I have a Model 27 and Model 17 with grips that look exactly like those that I shot Metallic Silhouette over 30 yrs ago. Mine are not Herretts, but are Jay Scott grips and I can't tell the difference when looking at them from the Herretts. Mine are really good grips. Just fit my hand.
