pre-war n frame service grips ?
I have a set of n frame sevice grips serial number 58165.The question is was this still a option on the pre-war heavy duty, and 44 third model at this late of shipping date. Or was this only a option for a registered magnum? DSC_0011.jpg

Those weren't an "optiom" they were standard stocks for all models except the Registered Magnum that had Magna stocks as standard.

They were standard up till 1936.these grips shipped 1939 0r 1940.The rm could be ordered with service stocks or magnas after 1936.I was wondering if this was true with the hd and 3rd model.

I have seen a set of prewar Magnas with a blurry stamped number that is outside the RM serial number range, which I presume must have been from a HD, Outdoorsman or a .44 HE.

This .44 HE2nd from 1939 shipped with N-Frame "Round Top" Service Stocks as shown and is verified with a factory letter.
This very late .38-44 Outdoorsman's also shipped as shown.

No, I meant the Magnas (taller, wider than the service stocks pictured).
I may be misunderstanding your question. The service stocks in your photo were standard on 1930s N frames; early in the RMs, you could have these with or without the grip adapter, or the Magnas. After the Magnas were available, I presume they could have been special-ordered for any N frame of the era, but they were not the standard type. Does this make sense?
