Came across a Victory conversion that I had not encountered before.
Frame and cylinder were from the same .38-200 Victory. Lots of Brit proof marks and such on the conversions.
Barrel was a 6" replacement for .22 LR with Brit marks and proofs. Not numbered to the gun.
Frame was missing the Lanyard ring and an obvious reblue that sported a screw adjustable rear sight (not S&W micrometer types). Cylinder is numbered to the frame, but each of the .38 S&W holes had been sleeved for .22 LR and the hammer had been shaped from center fire to .22 Rim fire.. A truly fine Brit post war conversion to .22...except for the over polishing typical of a post WWII conversion.
Original grips replaced with a set of fully checkered fancy walnut in the original grip style.
Price was $300. Unfortunately I was not able to jump on this one as the record breaking crowd kept their hands in their pockets and I was almost broke.
Fortunately I was the only S&W nut that kept going back to it, and
I am friendly with the owner.
We will meet again in tw weeks, and I amy yet own it.
Did not get any pics...yet.
Did not find any of the RMs that Fat Tom sished upon me, didn't find any treasured pieces wished upon me by Slow Intensive Burn, no hidden leather treasures wished upon me by Turnerriver and no Road Kill wished upon us by Iggy...we had to buy all meals.
The highlight of the trip was having Papa Jim's (8 yr. old) granddaughter Becky as our helper for Saturday and Sunday. She is a liitle blond elf with freckles on her nose. She was a ray of sunshine for all of the grandparents in our group...which is all of us.
Despite the poor showing of $$$ at the show our group had a great time visiting with folks, we ate like pigs, enjoyed the kids and gave it our best shot.
A bad day at a gun show is still better than the best day I ever had at work.
Despite what you hear from the Nay Sayers here listen to the rest of us. It can be fun. No Jerkey here, no cashews like Fat Tom found, no Sensi or what ever that scented foo-foo is, and no snake oil.
Forum members feel free to contact me here. Lots of great shows still to come.
Montana ICE group (FRANK) ...are you listening?
Collector Shows are right around the corner.
