22/32 HEAVY TARGET RANGE REPORT.
Hi
I got a chance to take out my old 22/32 Target and shoot a little.
This one is 2554XX about middle 1920 it still has the non recessed
Cly. It is not a safe Queen it has seen some use over the years.
But it is in good mechanical condition as seen by the group.
I used standard ammo and the group was shot from 30 feet 6 shots.
the Group Measures .400 for 5 shots not bad for a 87 year old gun.
The one flyer to the left is Just me I pulled it, not the guns fault.

My newly rebarreled 22/32 HFT is calling from its case as I type this. It, along with its stablemate, the 6" RP in 32 cal have only had one brief outing since getting back from the smith for barrel replacement. After the holiday weekend and its traffic madness die away, maybe I can get them out for a little exercise. While I do have a second HFT with the Bekeart style grips, I still prefer the RP style that came on mine. I just wish somebody would make some mini-Cokes for them. Traditional, no, but wouldn't they be great handles for these guns?

The J frame target grips are very good candidates and fit perfectly on I frame grip frames. Get a used (spelled cheaper) pair of the older type with wood that goes all the way up to the 'knuckle' behind the hammer. Buy a checkering handle and a double cutting bit (2 rows of teeth) with correct LPI, 14 IIRC and follow the existing checkering lines above and below the screw to deepen the checkering and create the palm swell. I take a little wood off the back low down by the butt for the gun to point correctly. You'll know what feels good for your hand and voila, mini Cokes.
