38/44 Heavy duty Pre War Range Report
Hi
I just pick up this Pre War 38/44 in Nickel It has a 1.51 Date on the Frame but
the Date is stamped thru the Nickel. It does not have a N on the Frame but it also does not have a B, I guess only a letter will tell. All the stamping is sharp and the finish is about 95 % the action is really smooth and it has a great trigger pull.
It shoots close to Point of Aim at 25 feet see target. it came with the Stag grips,
I put the Target on to do the shooting.
Jim

Nice old gun, Jim. I have a shooter nickel HD too. Mine was an order for 5 guns, four guns in nickel finish and one in blue. The order was from Germo Mfg in St. Louis, Mo. I don't know if all five guns shipped in the same shipment or not as the letter doesn't say. I just have a copy of the order from the SWHF. Serial number is 38507.

Good shooting with a most stately and elegant revolver!
I'm gone on Heavy Duty revolvers. They are one of the most attractive 20th century Smith & Wesson revolvers ever produced. Well, the Model of 1926 .44s and the Triple Lock ties with Heavy Duties and 3 1/2-inch Model 27s rate right up there. A shrouded tapered barrel is a must.
Anyway, the pre-war variations are especially nice with the characteristic style of hammer spur.
