Default Value of a Pre 27 Revolver?

There is a pre 27, 5 screw revolver available for sale locally, and I am wondering what price to offer. The gun appears to be in good shape, probably around 90-95%, includes the gold box, but no papers or tools. It has a 5" barrel and Magna stocks, although I don't know if they are numbered to the gun. The currently owner is asking $1000, but given the blueing wear, I am thinking this is too high. What would be a fair price?
