Default 1903 32 parts

I have S & W model 1903 32ctg revolver . that is missing the screw in front of the trigger guard , I have tried all the normal sources . Can't seem to match the threaded opening with any available screws . Anyone have one lying around ?

What do you mean by "all the normal sources" in your post? I look to Dave Chicoine, Larry Poppert, Bob's Gun Parts and Jack First. Have you tried all of them? That part should not be all that hard to find.

Excuse me if I say what you already know, but make sure you have the little spring and plunger that go in the hole. It's hard to lose the screw without losing those pieces too. I once had a gun with the spring and plunger, but no screw. The missing screw had been replaced with mashed tinfoil to keep the spring and plunger tensioned against the cylinder lock.

I agree with Froggie: those are the four guys you should call first when you need a part.

Default follow up

I did get a cylinder stop plunger and spring from Numrich , but they sent a bolt plunger (a stepped pin about .050" in diameter) in stead of the required screw . I prefer to communicate by email (hearing loss from use of rifle grenades) and find most places will not answer emails . Parts inquiries were done over a period of time , interrupted by ill health in the family . Now , I do not remember which I contacted and which I didn't . Parts names were taken from the Chicoine S&W 32 hand ejecter parts list .What I ordered was the cylinder stop screw , number I 45.

I hear ya on the hearing loss (but only with great difficulty... I taught school for 30 years! ) I guess the only thing to do is start again with Dave and work your way through. Larry is good about answering e-mails, but he and I finally resorted to phones too. Numrich has a bunch of minimum wage flunkies picking parts and filling orders, it would seem. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten the wrong part and had to send it back (always on my dime!) The do print catalogs with nice pictures, though!
