Prewar 38/44 Outdoorsman with HBH
The latest acquisition - a 1939 (I think) Outdoorsman. It is my 1st one with a humpback hammer. It also sports a Call gold bead front sight.
I love my Registered Magnums, BUT the lines on these prewar Outdoorsman's have to be some of the most graceful revolver lines ever produced. They make me SMILE (the big tooth-filled smile) each time I pull one out from the Safe. I hope that you enjoy the photos:
Thanks for letting me share,

Richard,
WOW!!
That package of call gold bead, humpback hammer and those beautiful Magna grips is "the best".
I can't think of another Outdoorsman that I've ever seen like it.
You did very well.

Spectacular revolver! An absolute beauty. The grain in those stocks is phenomenal. And the photographs are first rate. What's not to like?
A couple of years ago I found a similar one of about the same age, 55276 from November 1938. Alas, it lettered without the HBH, so that is an aftermarket add-on. It didn't have a gold bead sight, and the original stocks were missing so I slapped these ivories on it. Though magna style, they must have been made for a prewar gun because they fit the slightly larger frame perfectly.
Even though not in original configuration, this is one of my best ODs and looks like it would be right at home if your gun ever decided to hold a family reunion.

That may very well be the prettiest, most elegant revolver I've ever seen. Just breath-taking.
I'm glad it's in loving hands. Now we all get to enjoy it. Thank you.

All:
Thanks for all the kind words. It really is a photogenic specimen of a photogenic model. I had a lot of fun taking her photos today.

David:
Beautiful O/D! I have not lettered mine yet, but there are several in the SN range (57709) that also had the HBH. It did not come with the magnas on it. The magnas on the gun are a late pre-war "extra" set (I think SN 62XXX...something) that I had sitting loose in the safe. They have had a minor "sprucing up" from Keith Brown and were just waiting for the perfect gun. They fit this one like they were made for the frame. This is where they will stay.
Here are the grips that were on the gun when it came to me. Makes me think that it spent some time in the great state of Texas...
A very nice set of pearls, but not really my style...

Expect a PM from a moderator named Dan about those excess pearls...
Original to the gun or not, those magnas make a great set of stocks for that OD.
Again, that is one fine revolver.

I'm fond of them too. Here is one of mine that is similar (including call gold bead), less the HBH:
Sorry, but I am a really ****** photographer.
BTW - This one stills gets used. It is very accurate.

I emailed the "King" of pearl steer head grips (a.k.a. Dan M) when I got the revolver home to give me an idea of their worth. As always, he gave great advice and took the time to help me out. He's a real gentleman and has always been very kind and helpful to me over the years.

I have an Outdoorsman from 1940 which is part of the family, too! Mine has a silver front sight and I don't think it has a humpback hammer? Yours is beautiful! Thanks for posting!

Richard,
As I read this your post has 573 views. I'm responsible for more than my share of them as I can't help but keep admiring the best looking Outdoorsman I've ever seen. My own 1935 example is nice - but a far cry from your gun. Enjoy,
Jerry

Did you ever letter that beauty, if so, what was the configuration that it shipped in?
