Goodmorning or Good Afternoon fellow members, I saw an adverstisment on the internet about the existence of Adolph Hitler's LadySmith. They said it was going up for sale as an auctioned historical item,(Minded I have no idea how old this post is) My question is, is this a .22LR revolver, and exactly how much has this weapon changed since a late 30's era like he would have owned compared to the one's you see now? Also I see it came in 9mm Parabellum? Is this correct, and would it utilize moon clips?

Thanks.
Lou.

Is this the "advertisement" to which you refer?
Germania International; items of German, Hitler, Kaiser, Nazi, Tsar, and Reich Origin

In case the link goes away, here is the text:

Germania presents one of the most famous guns of history, Adolf Hitler’s personal revolver, yes, revolver; Smith and Wesson Ladysmith revolver. This is the only sidearm Hitler carried on a semipermanent basis. It probably is the most important gun that the world has ever seen, as the article will illustrate. It certainly changed history. The story is fascinating, but the saga of the weapon is presented here for your pleasure and edification. We do not have this revolver. It is safely stored away and might be offered for sale. Please do not email us for further information on this item. If you need to know more you will have to send your inquiries to our address as it is listed on our home page. The agent for these inquiries insists he be contacted only by U.S. Post Office mail sent to our address shown. No price has been established that we know of. The piece will probably go to auction, eventually. Before opening the link, be sure you understand these requirements. We are proud to present this story for the historian, collector, or the curious. It will entertain, enlighten, and fascinate. It sheds new light on a subject long lost and its importance to the annals of history is practically incalculable. It is a small, inanimate object, but of salient, paramount importance.

We now present the Gun of Destiny.

Personally, sounds like bunk to me.

Anyway, the picture appears to be of a 1st Model Ladysmith. The ejector rod does not have a release knob on it that the 2nd and 3rd Models have, although the 2nd Model has the same shape grip. It was chambered for black powder .22 Long, NOT Long Rifle. Shooting .22LR out of these guns often damages them by cracking or destroying the fragile forcing cone of the barrel.

The tiny .22 Long Ladysmiths were only made into the 1920s. The more modern Lady Smith guns (notice the difference in spelling) are simply recent or current guns, gussied up to appeal to the husbands of women and make them think, "That's what the little lady needs," without actually asking her what she wants. The only 9mm Lady Smiths I know of are autos, variations of the Model 39/59 family.

There has been rumors for years about a Ladysmith revolver, thought to have been owned by Adolph Hitler and liberated by a GI from Hitler's quarters in Bavaria. Provenance is suspicious. If the picture above is the subject Hitler Ladysmith, it's a refinished gun, and of course, no self respecting S&W collector would want a refinished gun in their collection, right? ED.

Agree with Ed (as usual) - proving that the gun was owned by you-know-who, by multiple verifiable sources, is likely impossible. Even if a factory letter documenting its shipment to a European dealer would be the end of the trail.

Maybe his fingerprints are still on it ;) .

The most sought after Hitler handgun is the one he used to commit suicide in his Bunker in Berlin. It is said to have been a Walther 7.65mm ,(not the LadySmith) and has popped up in various collections over the years. Said to have been retrieved from Hitler's hand by his personal valet, etc. Now that would have DNA on it! Ed.

I'd be suspicious to say the least, but anything to do w/the Nazi era creeps me out. Even if it was the real thing I'd want no part of it.

Being a retired printer, the photo of the Ladysmith appears to be cut out of another picture prior to it being photographed here. Possibly an auction catalog.. does the seller wants a Wire Transfer? To a mideastern country? Not me. Mike #283

The whole story of that gun is told in the Gun of Destiny link in the post above. Despite its overdramatic tone, I find the narrative at least superficially plausible, but at this point beyond confirmation. The serial number of the gun is 709, which is appropriate for a Ladysmith First Model.

This is supposedly the gun with which Hitler's niece Geli Raubal committed suicide in 1931.

Just a side bar, there is apparently, after all these many years, a book written by an investigator with pretty convincing proof that Hitler's suicide was faked which is plausible in itself. It's claimed he died after a life of exhile in Thailand in the 1970s IIRC.

It was not this one exactly but close. I thought it was a bunch of **** about it being up for sale, I just wondered what type of Ladysmith Hitler would have had and no one answered that. a .22, 0mm? etc. He owned a 7.65 32 acp Walther PPK that he shot himslef with.
