Please list your pre-war, transitional and post-war variations. I am specifically thinking about factory versions with the serrated frame, not Heavy Duty conversions like the McGivern model or Super Police Target versions of the 38/44 Heavy Duty.

I am trying to sort out the range of options.

Let me start:

Pre-war 6.5" standard hammer
Pre-war 6.5" humpback hammer
Transitional 6.5" Registered magnum barrel
Transitional 6.5" Standard barrel
Post-war 6.5" standard finish
Post-war 6.5" glossy finish
Post-war 6.5" target Hammer standard finish
Post-war 6.5" target hammer Glossy finish.

Did I miss any possibilities? I am sure I did...

Pete,
The Target Trigger was available before production ended so you could add that to the Post War list. If want to include grips, then the pre war with service and magnas and Post War with magnas and target grips.
I hope this helps.

Good point on the grips. I was not thinking of that level since that was a factory option.

I was more thinking of the steel part of the gun. But your target trigger is a good point. Do you know if you could get the target trigger without the target hammer? I don't know for sure.

So another one:

Post-war 6.5" Target hammer, Target Trigger, Glossy Finish (I have one of these)
Post-war 6.5" Target Hammer, Target Trigger standard finish.

Note to other readers, Bill is obviously very right. Lets ignore Magna's vs service grips for right now.

Target grips. They are serial numbered to the gun if I remember correctly. It surprised me since that was unusual I thought.

I will letter both my glossy's now just to figure out the back story.

I believe 1aspenhill would agree that the Super Police Target versions have smooth grip frames but the confirmed McGivern Models I have seen have a serrated grip frame . . . so you may want to include them in your range of options.

This McGivern model shipped in 1934.

Ok, I learned something new right there. So I would agree with you. To me the serrated frame makes it an Outdoorsman and the smooth frame makes it a Heavy Duty.

So thank you very much!

New addition and please correct me on my McGivern description as I have never handled one and am going from memory.

Pre-war 5", serrated frame, target sights, McGivern bead, standard prewar glossy finish.
