What is your K frame Grail Gun?

P&R Model 19 2 1/2 inch in blue. I've wanted one since my uncle-in-law who was border patrol in the 70s showed me the one he carried while working under cover back then.
I've since bought a 66 in that length and a nickel 19 but still waiting for a nice blued one in 2 1/2.
I know it's not that rare of a gun but still waiting for the right one to show up locally.

"Grail" means something you want badly but will never have so mine would be a Model 45 M&P in 22 Long Rifle with a 4" barrel. I know they can be found but no way I can bring myself to pay the asking price.

That's mine too SP, but just to make it more interesting (impossible?) one that shipped in 1952.

Never thought I'd find a birth year Smith..(1/15/1944)..Lo and behold...Gunbroker came through... this year... a victory with a letter .. Shipped 1/10/1944... I guess I'll stop looking for a birth year gun... Ya think????
JIM.................

Now ya gotta find a birth DAY gun! Good hunting!! :D

Nothing exotic, not even sure if this is truly a k frame, it's as big and heavy as my 686.

But this is my still NIB 617

I'm surprised that only one 53 is on the combined list
Guess they are more unusual on this side of the pond.

When i first heared of it in the -70's i wanted one.
Any barrel length or finish would do just fine for me.

When one finaly appered for sale here in Sweden, i was out of cash. :(
And the seller was not interested in trades. (even more:( )

It will be on my "want' s so bad" list for ever, and to think of it
i have never even shot one of them.
Not even the .22RemingtonJet Contender a friend at my gunclub had :o

I even traded of my reloading kit for the .22RJ

Easy... a K-32 with narrow rib made in 1949 to go with my K-22 and K-38 of the same era and be from my birth year. :D I don't know for sure whether that would also make it a LERK, but I'd be happy with it either way.

My March 1949 K-32 (recently acquired to finish off the narrow rib Masterpiece set) is not a LERK. Keep looking - they are out there, but you have to be prepared to "pay and pounce" very quickly.

Good Golly Tomally. Wow.

The K-32 (of any era) is sought after by so many collectors, I honestly wrenched my collecting interests in a different direction that don't include that fine, rare gun. My interests center around the earliest of the K frames. My favorite pastime is examining and comparing the similarities and subtle differences of the 1902 & 1905 models.
If you're not too picky, they're plentiful, cheap, and fun to shoot. Grail? I guess I've already found it.

I figure a grail is unobtainable, so the only guns I consider a grail are those that I would love to own, but very likely never will.

Looking for them is useful however because you find great stuff you weren't looking for in the process.

For example, I was offered serial # 54 (coinidentially made in 1854) today, not sure exactly how I will find the money, but I am going to make it happen.

I have long desired such a gun, but I knew it would happen, so it was never a grail.

SixgunStrumpet has the right idea. Make mine a King Super Target K22 with a cockeyed hammer. Will watch for one in Tulsa this November.

Heck of a good gun to look for.

I guess you could say a cockeyed K22/40 hammer is on my list of grail parts. Thats the only "problem" with mine aside from some finish wear. They did everything except the hammer.

That was on my list for a long, long time, but gratefully it was one that I got to scratch off the list:) True grail now is its 38/44 larger O/D brother configured the same way...

Ever since I saw one when I was a kid, the blued, 2.5" Model 19 has struck me as the perfect combat handgun. I finally was at the right place at the right time, with the right amount of cash six years ago, and picked up a nice -5 version.

As far as a true "grail gun", for me it would be any K frame owned by Ed McGivern.

Hmmmm...
1. 2" target victory (we know where that one is!)
2. 4" nickel M&P target -4th change variation would do
3. Mod 14 no dash nickel (got one...but it's been made up and will have to do for now)
4. 2" pre war M&P 4th change square butt nickel - D. Carroll offered one years back and I unwisely passed it up:(
5. 2" nickel post war transition terrier (not a K frame but got me thinking about I frame grail guns)

Better stop here, too many wants not enough time...
