So many guys focus on N frames when making their Grail Gun list but there are so many unique K frames out there that I would like to hear your list.
As well as the uber rare (k-32 LERK, k-38 LERK, Mexican k-38 ....) What not often seen but not unheard of K's would following you home? 2" M&P's? Single address line post war k-22,32,38, ....
For me my grail gun is a K-22/40, but I won't be buying one unless I find a lost gem as the current prices are a bit prohibitive. On the other hand Pre-19s and K-22 outdoors mans are ones that seem to always come home when found. Even if they have been well loved.
Found my last 22 Outdoorsman locally from a guy who didn't want any trades unless it was a Glock =)
Here are some Pre-19s that still get shot often.

Pre War K-22 Outdoorsman made post 1940. About 1000 were made with the new micro adjust rear site that became standard post war.

"Grail" means something you want badly but will never have so mine would be a Model 45 M&P in 22 Long Rifle with a 4" barrel. I know they can be found but no way I can bring myself to pay the asking price.

Nickel Combat Magnum (pre-Model 19) in the numbered hardcase presentation box.
I'm not sure one even exists.

Not that I'd call them "Grail", because I'm sure I'll pick them up eventually:
a) 32-20 w/a 5" barrel. This one because I have a Colt PPS in that caliber & it needs a buddy .
b) P&R'd Model 19, 2 1/2"
c) Model 13 or 65 4". This is most likely the next one once I free up some more funds.

Easy... a K-32 with narrow rib made in 1949 to go with my K-22 and K-38 of the same era and be from my birth year. I don't know for sure whether that would also make it a LERK, but I'd be happy with it either way.
Froggie
PS I wouldn't turn it down if it were wearing a pair of Ropers or Sandersons, but if it had Goodyears, I'd have to replace them before it went into the safe with its siblings. BTW, I'm with those who are really dreaming big here, think "Holy Grail" and a quest, not "Red Solo Cup" and a Saturday night quickie.

There are several rare K-frame models or varieties that I don't yet have in my safe and wouldn't mind owning or caring for over a few years before they move on, but I have been so fortunate in collecting uncommon K-frames in the last three or four years that I don't think I have the right to say something like, "But what I really want is..." It's just kind of insensitive to think that way.
As of about six months ago I have my one-time grail K-frame, a 1946 Mexican, but I admit there are a few more models i would happily acquire if I had the chance -- and the money at the time the chance presented itself. A LERK K-32 Masterpiece would be nice, not to mention a prewar K-32 first model. But I think there is a good chance I will never acquire one of these. No matter, I am just delighted to be responsible for the few rarities that happened to come my way.
Let me say that all the choices I see above are great models and worthy dreams -- and my wish is that you all get to realize those dreams at an early date and at a reasonable price.

Toss up between a ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) 4 inch, blued round butt model 19 or a blued 3 inch model 19 done up for the Cali Dept of Justice narcotics agents. Both revolvers handle like a dream in my hands and both are impossible to find trading hands.
Still looking for ONI serial number K622075 if it is still out there!

My K frame Grail gun was always a 3" M-66 until I got one. I wasn't as thrilled as I thought I would be, I like my 3" M-13 and 65 much better. That said, my current K frame Grail is a M-16-4 with a 4" brl. Also on the "want list" is a M-45 in .22RF with a 4" brl.
Grail guns are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

Holy Grail. Chimera. K22/40, and while I'm at it, a matching box.
Any time now would be just fine.

I'd call that one my grail gun, but I figure some day I will formulate some sort of plot that will cause you to sell it to me.
So if I expect to own it, some day, it doesn't count as a grail gun.

Hi
I all ready have a lot of the Grail guns that have been listed. If I could have only two Grail Guns these would be my picks and I have both of these.
1. K-32 4 screw shipped in 1959 with 3 T,S red ramp front sight.
one of less than 4 Known.
2. K-22 Outdoorsman given to Col. Applegate in 1946 the only one made.

Four inch pinto combat magnum, 3Ts, in the box. It would no doubt be priced out of my league!

K frame trail gun?
Nothing comes even close to these three. The actions and workmanship is the best that s&w has ever offered quality wise.
S&W K22 masterpiece w/ 6" barrel blue pre model number
S&W K38 Combat masterpiece w/4" blue pre model number
S&W K38 masterpiece target w/6" blue pre model number
The only K frame I may add is a combat magnum m19.
I didn't do too bad for a noobie. Just the sound of it says it all combat masterpiece?

P&R Model 19 2 1/2 inch in blue. I've wanted one since my uncle-in-law who was border patrol in the 70s showed me the one he carried while working under cover back then.
I've since bought a 66 in that length and a nickel 19 but still waiting for a nice blued one in 2 1/2.
I know it's not that rare of a gun but still waiting for the right one to show up locally.

That's mine too SP, but just to make it more interesting (impossible?) one that shipped in 1952.

Nothing exotic, not even sure if this is truly a k frame, it's as big and heavy as my 686.
But this is my still NIB 617

I'm surprised that only one 53 is on the combined list
Guess they are more unusual on this side of the pond.
When i first heared of it in the -70's i wanted one.
Any barrel length or finish would do just fine for me.
When one finaly appered for sale here in Sweden, i was out of cash.
And the seller was not interested in trades. (even more )
It will be on my "want' s so bad" list for ever, and to think of it
i have never even shot one of them.
Not even the .22RemingtonJet Contender a friend at my gunclub had
I even traded of my reloading kit for the .22RJ

My March 1949 K-32 (recently acquired to finish off the narrow rib Masterpiece set) is not a LERK. Keep looking - they are out there, but you have to be prepared to "pay and pounce" very quickly.

I'm still sort of a nickel bigot, I can't bring myself to appreciate it as I know many of you guys do, but...
Those stocks are outrageous, and they make that a real beauty.
